Bobble of the Day “Nolan Ryan”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Nolan Ryan

Team: Round Rock Express

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Associated Premium Corporation

So the Round Rock Express came out with this beauty on May 5th. I have many Ryan bobbles in my collection and this one is definitely within the top 3. What’s better than to highlight Nolan than his 4th No Hitter bobblehead?

As you can see all lettering is raised and the colors are bright. The base is a medium brown color with white raised letters which looks badass within the backdrop. Nolan’s got his red cleats and sox to match the Angles colors within his jersey. He’s palming 4 baseball to show he’s a fucking boss by throwing his 4th No No. I like the fact that the manufacturer did not put a ball cap on Nolan as his hair combed has a “classic” look to it.

Sniper Rating: One thing that that was not mentioned the far in this review is the sponsor. WHATABURGER. I dig the sponsor sign right in front because it just flat out looks cool. Who doesn’t like the name WHATABURGER? Better yet, who doesn’t like a fucking burger? I’m also feeling the orange/redish color of the sign as it stands out and brings the attention of the eye right to it. Without a doubt this Nolan Ryan SGA NEEDS to be in your collection. Killer bobble, killer theme(4th No Hitter) and a KILLER sponsor emblem. A sure fire 9.0. A full point taken off due to the box being a boring, standard white color. Round Rock, put the extra money into making a colored box with various features will ya?

Bobble of the Day ” Ichiro Suzuki”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Ichiro Suzuki

Team: Seattle Mariners/Miami Marlins

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: BD&A

Apparently within the past few years, when a player plays for multiple teams and they come out with a tribute bobblehead, they put both jersey’s on the player. This duel Ichiro bobble has him in his Mariners and Marlins jersey which I think is a cool idea.

Given out a few weeks ago in Seattle, this one fetches quite the price tag on Ebay. I was fortunate to have a connection out in Seattle who gifted me this one.

Ichiro in his Seattle uni is highlighted by recording 262 hits in 2004 which is a single season record. In his Marlins uni, Ichiro is highlighted by recording his 3,000th hit which is remarkable. The base is a sleek silver color with Ichiro’s letters (raised) in a darkish blue color. BD&A did a fantastic job creating this one with 2 different stances. Seattle Ichiro is slapping a hit to the left side of the infield and Marlins Ichiro is following through with a 2 run double that smacks the bottom base of the wall in centerfield. Both emblems depict his accomplishments and the colors align with the lettering of his name.

Sniper Rating: This is a homer bobble and a must have but I do have a very strong complaint. It seems that this bobble was rushed dramatically as there’s glue spots everywhere and both heads don’t bobble as well as I assumed. I know we all have to embrace imperfections but the structure of this one could have been better. At first I thought this one I received in the mail was the only one that had some major imperfections, but scrolling through Ebay I noticed a lot of them had the same issues. A lot of sloppy glue over many necks and quite a few chips around the back of the base. BD&A rushed this one a bit but I’m willing to give them a pass because they typically produce well made products for us fans. At the end of the day, you have to include this in your collection and it receives a solid 8.0 rating.

Bobble of the Day “Jim Abbott”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Jim Abbott

Team: Inland Empire 66ers

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Alexander Global Productions

What a sentimental bobblehead we have here. Unless you live under a rock, everyone should know who Jim Abbott is. Born without a right hand from birth, this dude made it all the way to the Majors and was one hell of a pitcher for many teams.

The 66ers out in Cali gave out this bobble last week who are an affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. Everything about this bobble screams a winner. Everything is raised as far as letters. Everything! Abbott’s name, Angles and his number on the front and back of his jersey as well as the Halo’s logo on the hat. AGP did a bang up job with this one. The facial features are spot on and his hair is very detailed. What’s most highlighted on this bobble is Abbott’s glove resting on his right hand. The glove is perfectly placed like Abbott does when he transfers his glove to his left hand.

Sniper Rating: This is a special bobblehead. It’s damn near impossible to make it to the Majors. It’s even more unthinkable to be a dominant pitcher nevertheless throw a no hitter with one fucking hand! This gamer of pitcher defies all odds and demonstrates that you can literally do anything in this world if you work hard. Jim Abbott is the perfect person to idolize when it comes to achieving your goals. This special edition bobble scores a 9.5.

P.S. The box is killer! High glossy coating with photos and in addition, the 66ers provided other giveaways they are doing throughout the season. Very smart marketing tactic.

Bobble of the Day “Don Mattingly”

Bobble of the Day

Manager: Don Mattingly

Team: Miami Marlins

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Managed Promotions

Donnie baseball! Mattingly finds himself in a Marlins uniform after being let go from the Dodgers a few years ago. Great move if you ask me. He loves South Beach, the players listen to him and he’s respected around the community. My buddy Emmett who lives in Florida goes to all the bobble games and I was fortunate enough for him to snag me an extra.

I typically don’t collect many manager bobbles, but this one is a must have. Donnie just leaning on top of the arm rail managing the game like he always does. I love the sponsor Aquafina logo in blue letters dead smack on the bottom of the base. It adds a unique feature and it’s not a boring company logo. Mattingly’s letters are raised in white against the black front of the base which really pops.

Sniper Rating: The neon green hand rail is a killer feature on this one because most dugout rails are a plain black or blue color which is boring. The bright green rail lets players know not to fall on their ass more importantly. Donnie’s facial features are on point and the glasses and wedding ring on his finger are added pluses. The Marlins spent the extra money and had the box colored with photos and stats instead of just a plain white box. Excellent move by the Marlins promotions department.

Don Mattingly and his managerial bobble with shit tons of detail and a colored glossy box scores a 9.0. I look forward to all Marlin SGA’s as the team does care about their fans and want to please them. Their high quality bobbles are a first hand example.

Bobble of the Day “Kyrie Irving”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Kyrie Irving

Team: Cleveland Cavaliers

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

All this talk about Lebron being the greatest which he is, everyone always seems to forget about Dr. Drew. You can’t deny the handles Kyrie has and if it wasn’t for him, the Cavs would not have won the title last year. In this league you need a legit PG along with some other muscle to get to the Finals.

I already previously did a vlog “Bobble of the Day” on Lebron’s 40 point game bobble, so this one will be very similar.

Lebron and Kyrie both had that game in the Finals last year where they each dropped 40 points in the same game. Very tough accomplishment to do and this is why FOCO came out with these special edition Newspaper 40 point game bobbles. The base has their “40 Point Game” wording on top and the signature pose of Kyrie scrunched down with both fists clenched and him screaming.

Sniper Rating: I recommend if you have one, you have to get the other. This is a 2 part bobblehead set and these both need to be in your collection. Don’t just get the Kyrie and not the Lebron and vice versa. Who the hell knows when the next time 2 Hall of Famers will each score 40 points in a Finals game ever again. Kyrie takes a back seat to Lebron, but he is no slouch. Score this one before they sell out and they start hitting ebay for 80.00 or more. Dr. Drew and his handles score a 9.5 rating.

Bobble of the Day “Oriole Umpire Bird”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Oriole Bird (Umpire)

Team: Baltimore Orioles

Year: 2015

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Everyone who is a fan of baseball loves mascots. If you’ve seen the Oriole Bird you know he’s the real deal. Now, most people don’t really like MLB umpires as The Bird is all suited up in official umpire gear. There are very few umpire bobbleheads that exist and here is one of them.

The base is very sharp looking and sturdy as it’s in the shape of the Oriole logo. Umpire Bird is written in raised black letters and mixes in well color wise with his cleats and undershirt.

The Bird is completely decked out head to toe with umpire flashy gear. The pants with the side pocket where blue keeps his brush to wipe off home plate and his balls and strikes clicker. The light blue shirt with the MLB logo is as legit as it gets. The lightish blue colored shirt really makes this unique bobble stand out.

Sniper Rating: What a lot of people don’t realize with this bobble is the Bird is giving the safe sign at home plate. He’s holding has face mask as he took it off to make the call at the plate. Both arms bobble along with the head which makes this one very special. As stated earlier, there are not to many umpire bobbles that were ever made. This one takes the cake and is a sure fire 9.0.
