Bobble of the Day “Bryce Harper” Gobblehead

Bobble of the Day

Player: Bryce Harper (Gobblehead)

Team: Potomac Nationals

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Success Promotions

So this is a hit or miss kind of bobblehead for 2 reasons. One, it’s of a phenom baseball player. Two, Bryce Harper is dressed up as a turkey for god’s sake. It’s weird in many ways but at the same time, unique enough to be considered a legit collector’s item.

The overall theme is obviously based on Thanksgiving. Harper has colorful feathers on his back and a big ole turkey leg around his waist. He’s got the yellow turkey feet standing on top of the base. I do like the top hat he’s wearing as it adds some charm to the theme of the bobble.

Sniper Rating: A weird time of year for the Potomac Nationals to be giving this one out. Why not wait until September when it’s the start of the Fall season? Anyway, I’m still up in the air on this one. I do like that the manufacturer at least put a bat in his hand to give it a baseball feel.

Given the fact that Harper’s got funny feathers, turkey legs/arms, and the fact that this is a Thanksgiving themed bobble in mid May, Bryce Harper as the “Gobblehead” scores a 6.0.

Bobble of the Day “Mr. Met”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Mr. Met

Team: New York Mets

Year: 2008

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

There’s so many Mr. Met bobbleheads out there that it’s extremely hard to collect them all. Between SGA’s and retail one’s to obtain all of them is quite difficult. This one in particular I like a lot. Mr. Met himself has his standard pose of holding his arms out but the base is what makes this bobble so special.

The lower perimeter of the base is Met orange with a blue background. Of course, Mr. Met’s name is raised letters and it pops. The base theme on top is considered “On Field” as the Mets logo is raised up on the right side as a platform. He’s standing on another Mets logo and overall the detail is very precise.

Sniper Rating: This one is not flashy by any means but it’s unique in it’s own way. A very tough find to track down on the open market and if you do happen to score it, it’s gonna run you well over $100.00. A must have for a Mets collector but not so much if you’re not a Mets fan. Given the uniqueness and rarity, Mr. Met “On Field” 2008 bobble scores a 7.5.

Bobble of the Day “Star Wars Revenge of the Fish”

Bobble of the Day

Theme: Star Wars “Revenge of the Fish”

Team: Altoona Curve

Year: 2017

Manufacturer:

So here we have a new Star Wars bobblehead that was given away a few weeks ago by the Altoona Curve. I have absolutely no idea what this bobblehead is about regarding the “Revenge of the Fish”. I’m assuming it has something to do with a Star Wars movie but I’m not sure. I don’t even really care but it is a cool bobble.

The base is all green and “Revenge of the Fish” is highlighted in white raised letters against the front of the base. The fish is in a Jedi stance ready to swing his red light saber. The black cloak that is around him is complemented with red shoes, bright yellow hands and a red undershirt.

Sniper Rating: The head is kind of weird as his eyes are on the sides of his head like a fish and it resembles a big ole round ball. For those who can’t see it, this bobble doesn’t bobble from the head. It’s a body bobble in which the spring is in his waist.

For some reason collector’s are paying big bucks for this one as it’s price range has gone well over $100.00 on ebay. Given the fact that I don’t know shit about this one and at the same time it’s different, the Fish scores a 7.0. If any of you Snipers know more about this bobble please let me know.

Bobble of the Day “Catfish Hunter”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Catfish Hunter

Team: Oakland Athletics

Year: 2014

Manufacturer: BD&a

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know shit about Catfish Hunter. He played before I was born and I’ve only heard great things about him. I really like the earlier A’s bobbleheads a lot because they are made well and I love the green and yellow colors. I scored this bobble for several reasons. One, I think the name “Catfish” is a total boss name and second I dig the bright colors on this one.

The bottom of the base is outlined by a green trim with Catfish’s name in raised white letters which really pops. He’s in pitching motion with the dirt underneath him which replicates he’s on the mound. The high green stirrups are killer along with the bright yellow socks. Apparently, this is the 1974 reunion bobble and has the year “74” against the back of the base in yellow with a bright green trim surrounding it. The entire uniform is vintage old school Athletics and the bright colored hat is a very cool feature.

Sniper Rating: The box is retro as and is absolutely flooded with photos and unique sponsors. I love the dark brown wavy hair and the porn star mustache on Hunter. A very cool bobble that will turn heads within your collection. Fairly inexpensive as these only go for around $40.00 on the bay. Nothing short of super unique, Catfish scores a solid 9.0

Bobble of the Day “Clemson Tiger”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Clemson Tigers

Team: Clemson Tigers

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Without further question, the Bobblehead Hall of Fame designed a beauty of this Clemson Tigers National Championship bobblehead. I can remember 2-3 years ago when any team in any sport won a National Title, we’d rarely if not ever, see a Championship bobble produced. The boys over at the Hall started creating NCAA Basketball Champ bobbles and here we have the first of I’m sure many to come College Football Champ bobbles.

I’d like to start off by saying I am in love with the Clemson colors. Bright orange with a flash of purple. Both colors pop dramatically and this is one to own. The base has a lower layer of orange and above is bright purple all around. The Clemson and National Champions letters are outlined in white. Directly on the front top of the base lies the the Tigers logo which looks cool as hell. The National Championship trophy stands right in front of the Tiger. The Tiger himself is decked out in orange and black colors with a fresh looking white jersey. I’m glad they included the tail as it wraps around the back of his ass and is glued at the bottom of the left ankle.

Sniper Rating: What stands out most is the eyes on this sucker. Bright yellow mixed in with white, orange and black colors around the face and head. Awesome collectible even if you are not a Clemson fan. I am a College football fan and what Clemson did to Alabama in the title game was insane. A must, must have in your collection without a doubt. 9.5 for the Clemson Tiger mascot Snipers.

Bobble of the Day “Giancarlo Stanton”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Giancarlo Stanton

Team: Miami Marlins

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Many fans don’t have the opportunity to watch Stanton play often because of the small market team the Marlins are. But when the Marlins are on the road and he comes to your town you better get to know him quickly. The dude hits absolute moon shots that haven’t even landed yet.

This one, exclusively sold at the Marlins Team Store is a beauty and they sold out very quick! I love the geometrical base with the Marlins logo right on the top. Stanton’s name is a a plain ole sticker slapped on the front which is a lazy move by FOCO. Very disappointed they went in this direction. I do love the fact that Stanton is in his homer stance as he should be. The orange jersey color really makes this item pop with attractiveness. His facial features are designed well and overall has excellent detail.

Sniper Rating: Aside from the sticker for a name this is a must have in your collection. I say that a lot about which bobbles should be in your possession but I really mean this one. Stanton is a true homerun hitter and one of the most exciting players in the game today. Once the All-Star game festivities begin in Miami this summer, these will fly right off of Ebay. If you get lucky try and snag one now! Giancarlo and his well detailed bobble score a 8.5.
