Bobble of the Day-Reggie Jackson

Bobble of the Day

Player: Reggie Jackson

Team: Oakland Athletics

Year: 2103 SGA

Manufacturer: BD&A

I love this Reggie for mainly one reason only. The colors. They pop. They are bright. They are attractive to the eye. It stands out. I feel like if you are a legit collector and you don’t have this one you may be an asshole. I don’t even care if you’re a Reggie Jackson fan or not. BD&A dropped the hammer on this one. The structure is solid, the colors are bright, the Reggie Homerun swing stance is on point and the sunglasses he’s rocking are really hard. Never mind the Pepsi sponsor emblem in front looks dope as hell.

Sniper rating: This is one of my favorite SGA’s. It’s quite expensive on eBay but it’s a must have.  I forgot to mention that this particular Bobble commemorates the A’s winning the 1973 World Series as the 73 number is placed on the back base of the Bobble. Very unique and cool. The only negative I have on this one is the spring is very tight and does not have the best “bobble” effect. Overall, this one is a solid 9.5. Make sure you add this to your collection.

Bobble of the Day- Mike Piazza

Bobble of the Day

Player: Mike Piazza Team: New York Mets

Year: 2002 Manufacturer: AGP

You know my opinion about Alexander Global Production (AGP) Bobbleheads already. They all in this particular year have the same stance, body and face. Blah, blah, blah. This review is more about the sponsor and box. Just about every SGA that the Mets give away is sponsored by Gold’s Horseradish. I myself do not like horseradish. I actually think it fucking disgusting. That being said, I like the way it looks as an emblem on all Mets bobbles. I’m not sure if it’s the lettering or just how it looks on the bobble. It’s also splattered all over the box as well.

As far as the bobble goes, I do like this Piazza one because there is quite a bit of detail. I love that APG put on a observant go-tee on Big Mike. I also like that they made his uniform a dark black color so you can see the lettering of blue and orange a bit better. The box displays his stats, actual photographs of him and the bright blue and orange around the box overall just pops. Sniper rating: This SGA is cool but for all the wrong reasons. The bobble itself should make headlines, not the box and sponsor emblem. Like previously stated, the Gold’s Horseradish is total bad ass, the detail in his facial hair and the black jersey is nice. An added plus for the box as well. Same ole fat body and stance. We’ll stay a shade above .500 and call this one a mediocre 6.0.

Bobble of the Day-George H.W. Bush

Bobble of the Day

Player: George H. W. Bush

Team: Yale University (Bulldogs)- Bridgeport Bluefish

Year: 2015 SGA

Manufacturer: ?

Who knew George H. W. Bush (former president of the United States) played college baseball? I sure as fuck didn’t. The Bluefish came out in 2015 with a George Bush Yale Bulldogs Bobblehead for the first 500 fans in attendance. Bush played in the first ever College World Series. He played first base for Yale from 1964-1968.

Okay, on to the Bobble. Firstly, the box is cool as shit. Tons of colors and very bright. The Bluefish use the same box for every bobble they give out which I have no problem with because it’s badass. I really dig the home plate base along with the standard Bluefish emblem. The Yale uniform is cool as shit as it represents the Ivy League. It’s a very sturdy bobble and the spring is loose which makes it bobble very well.

Sniper rating: I’m not a huge political guy. I rarely watch the debates and as far as I’m concerned any president that serves our country will fuck it up one way or another. But, I really like this bobble. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of any other president that has actually played college baseball, nevertheless have a bobble of themselves in their former uniform. Gotta go with a solid 8.0 rating on this one. Mr. Bush is getting very very old, and your going to want to get this one in a hurry before you know what happens!

At least his son didn’t play.

Bobble of the Day-Mr. Redlegs

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Mr. Redlegs 2016 Opening Day

Team: Cincinnati Reds

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

First of all, this is the 1st ever Mascot Bobble of the Day review. Secondly, Mr. Redlegs is one of the most underrated Mascot’s in Major League Baseball. Period. “Mr. Red” first appeared in 1955 on the Reds uniform sleeves as a “patch”. As years went on the Reds adopted 2 other mascots; Gapper and Rosie Red. The Reds need to settle down a bit. There’s no need for 3 fucking mascots on a Major League Baseball team. It’s nonsense. Stick with one. Stick with Mr. Redlegs. To this day I don’t and won’t ever own any Gapper or Rosie Red bobbles.

This 2016 Opening Day bobble is definitely a sweet ass one. The foam finger (that bobbles) reading #1 fan is unique as shit. The Opening Day ticket with string hanging from his neck is boss and him holding a variety of food and beverage just makes you want to go to a ball game. Although, there probably is a soda pop in that tray he’s holding, I’d like to see a nice crafty in there.

It’s a very sturdy bobble and not only does the neck bobble(as it should) his mustache bobbles which is cool as hell. The American circle flags draped on the top of the box makes this one even more attractive to the eye. The price is steep at ($74.99) but well worth it. It looks very eye-catching on display.

Sniper rating: FOCO did not fuck around on this one. The stitching of the baseball on Mr. Redlegs head to the creativity of the props in each hand delivers a great collectible for any fan of baseball; not just Reds fans. Considering they are quite difficult to obtain one, Mr. Redlegs Opening Day 2016 bobble deserves a rating of a 8.5. A nice crafty in his hand however would bump it up to 9.5

Bobble of the Day-Fernando Valenzuela

Bobble of the Day

Player: Fernando Valenzuela

Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

Year: 2011 SGA

Manufacturer: ?

Love what the Dodgers did in 2011 with this Valenzuela bobble as a giveaway. The detail in this one is epic. On September 17th 1981, Fernando Valenzuela threw his 8th shutout of the season and set a new National League record. Fans loved Fernando’s whacky delivery and “Fernandomania” swept across Southern California.
In 2011, the Dodgers produced an official “Fernandomania” Stadium Giveaway and gave it out to fans on July 26th. There’s many pro’s to this bobble. I love the colors of Dodger blue on Fernando’s jacket, cleats and hat. The gray outline on the base and surrounding edges offsets the whole bobble which is cool as shit. Fernando is ready to sign some autographs with his pen and his hair sticking out in back is a dope add on. The background sign reads, “Go Fernie” along with “Viva Fernando”! It’s got definite structure and overall very detailed bobble. The original collector’s box is full of color and pictures highlighting Fernando’s historic career.

Sniper rating: As stated above, the detail, colors and design of this one is the shit. Great player, great team, killer bobble. The designers definitely put some time into this one. Unfortunately, I could not track down the manufacturer of this bobble and that’s even after reaching out to some of my Dodger bro’s out in Cali which they didn’t know as well. I would assume is BD&A but don’t want to put a stamp on it without knowing for sure. There’s several on eBay, make sure you score one as its one of my favorite Dodger bobbles. In addition, make sure if you make a purchase through eBay, be sure to let the slapdick seller know to package this well as there’s various fragile pieces to it. Finally, this SGA of the great Fernando is getting a solid 9.0

Bobble of the Day -David Ortiz

Bobble of the Day

Player: David Ortiz

Team: Boston Red Sox

Year: 2013

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Of course I’m going to start off the first BOTD as a Red Sox player! Here we have David Ortiz Boston Red Sox 2013 World Series Champion, MVP, Trophy, T-shirt, Helmet Ski Goggles limited edition Bobblehead. The detail on this one is fucking incredible. Once the Sox won the title in 2013, many players including Ortiz, would throw on the ski goggles while teammates poured champagne down each other’s throats. FOCO made sure they included the trophy (obviously), the MVP trophy, the celebrating grey t-shirt and had Big Papi rocking the dope Army helmet. The base is the official logo of the Sox. Very sturdy, quality is precise and most importantly, it’s a bobble that depicts one of the greatest moments in Red Sox history. These were only limited to only 300 produced which makes it a difficult find nowadays.

Sniper Rating: I’m bias because I’m a Sox fan, but with the quality and effort put forth on designing this particular one, its going to be rated a solid 9.0. I’d give it a perfect 10.0 if FOCO put his gold chain around his neck. Now that would be fresh as hell! Get your hands on this one as he’s about to retire and you’re going to want to have one. Trust me.
