Bobble of the Day Chipper Jones

Bobble of the Day

Player: Chipper Jones

Team: Richmond Braves

Year: 2002 SGA

Manufacturer: ?

The Richmond Braves are a farm system team for the Atlanta Braves. We all know Chipper made his Hall of Fame career on the Braves. Although he was never well liked throughout the league he did put up solid numbers to make him a Hall of Famer. For what ever reason this Minor League bobble is quite rare. Not to many pop up on eBay and I couldn’t tell you how many were handed out on August 3rd of 2002. I dislike this one to the highest heavens. The stance is very standard and there’s nothing exciting at all about it. It’s boring. It’s stupid. It looks nothing like Chipper. His hat is flared up like a fruitcake and the entire face looks nothing like him at all. Very poor job by the manufacturer and I don’t even know who designed it.

Sniper rating: If you’re a Braves fan and diehard collector I suppose this belongs in your collection. Considering not many show up on a regular basis, this SGA falls into the category of “rare”. I guess the only positive about this Chipper bobble is the fact that is a little heavier than most which makes it pretty sturdy. Overall, very disappointed and this is getting a weak 3.0 rating. Sorry Braves fanatics.

Bobble of the Day Corey Seager

Bobble of the Day

Player: Corey Seager

Team: Rancho Cucamonga Quakes

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Promotional Adventures

The new young face of the game of baseball lies within Corey Seager (as well as Mookie Betts). This kid can do it all and is well on his way to winning the Rookie of the Year Award in the National League.

The Rancho Quakes have been on top of the minor league pedestal for bobblehead giveaways the past two seasons. The quality, detail, sturdiness, box features and uniqueness make the Quakes bobbles stand above the rest. So on to this Seager giveaway. The first thing that jumps out at me is the royal blue jersey. I love it as it blends in well with the base. He stance depicts him throwing a seed to first base. The colors and pinpoint detail on his uniform are features that are eye-catching. I really dig the box as well. Great photos of Seager and bright colors of the sponsors really pop out.

Sniper Rating:  The Quakes rarely disappoint when it comes to their giveaways and they really nailed this one of Corey Seager. Fellow Snipers have personally told me they waited in line for more than a couple hours for this giveaway. I’ve seen pictures of the lines from this game and apparently is was disgustingly hot standing there. Props to the collector’s and fans for gutting it out. It was well worth it right? Promotional Adventures nailed this one and therefore it’s getting a strong 9.5.

Bobble of the Day Bryce Harper

Bobble of the Day

Player: Bryce Harper

Team: Washington Nationals

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: BD&A

Harper won the MVP last season (2015) and dominated the game of baseball. His numbers were astronomical.

Batting Average: .330

HR’s: 32

Hits: 172

RBI’s: 99

Runs Scored: 118

This SGA is as fresh as they come. I love how Harper’s giving the 3 fingers up after hitting a bomb as he’s running back to the dugout. It’s not just a standard swing or fielding position. It’s the MVP’s signature pose. The facial hair is on point and the MVP trophy plaque is an added bonus. Another positive about this one is the detail and paint job on the uniform. Very well done coordinating the colors on different parts of the uniform.

Sniper Rating: This bobble is awesome. Every thing about it screams a winner to add to any collection but of course there’s one glitch. The price. If you weren’t fortunate enough to go to the Nats game on ??? to receive the bobble, you’re going to pay a steep price. Collectors in the D.C. area are not letting this one go for cheap. Typically, depending on the player or mascot, a SGA can usually be obtained for $20.00 to $45.00. This one is going anywhere from $45.00- $85.00. It’s not cheap. I think paid close to $50.00 for mine (and no it wasn’t given to me). Within few years this will become a hard to find bobble. If you truly want this one to add to your collection, I advise either trying to trade with another collector or just bite the bullet and put up the cash for it. It’s well worth it. Do not wait to long or you’ll end up paying $120.00 down the road. I can sense it. I know what I’m talking about. Bryce Harper’s MVP SGA is getting a sure fire 9.5 rating.

Bobble of the Day Mr. Met “Subway Series”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Mr. Met

Team: New York Mets

Year: 2015

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles (Bobble of the Month)

The Mets in their 2nd consecutive year came out with the Bobble of the Month series. Only available at the Mets team store at Citi Field. This one sold extremely fast! Mr. Met “Subway Series” for the month of September. Limited to only 150 made by FOCO. This is one of the coolest bobbles I own. Mr. Met is holding a Subway dividing the Yankees and Mets. Over here on the East Coast fans take this rivalry serious. I could care less as I’m a Sox fan but this is about as dope as it gets. The back base shows the Mets and Yankee logo as well as the 4 and 7 line to get to each ballpark. Mr. Met is rocking the pinstripe uniform and the base is a shiny silver color. The lettering on the front displays “Subway Series”.

Sniper rating: I’m not a fan of either team as I’m a Sox fan (as stated above), but this one catches the attention of any fan. It’s very sturdy and well made by FOCO. I’ve never seen 2 teams represented on a bobble before so this is the first. In anticipation of the two teams playing each other, collector’s go nuts over this one. It’s a huge 10″ bobble and displays well on a desk or mantle. In my opinion Mr. Met is by far the most noticeable mascot of all MLB teams. The over sized baseball head and the fact that he’s got Mrs. Met by his side makes it unique.  Not much to say here so this is a sure fire 10.0 rating.

Bobble of the Day Ivan Rodriguez

Bobble of the Day

Player: Ivan (Pudge) Rodriguez

Team: Florida Marlins

Year: 2003

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

I love Pudge. I think he’s been the best all around catcher that I’ve seen in my generation. His legs are the size of fucking tree trunks and he’s built like a brick shithouse. That’s why he was so durable for many years. I loved when the Marlins beat the Yankees to win the World Series in 03. A true underdog team with nothing to lose. What gets me on this bobble is the colors. The teal/aqua color adds pop to this one as well as the other players in the set that were made by FOCO. The World Series patch on the sleeve as well as the back base is cool as hell.

Sniper rating: Forever Collectibles did very well with this set of 2003 Marlins. The fact Pudge was on the team makes it better. The sturdiness of this bobble as well as the color combination makes this set a must have. Who knows when the Marlins will win a championship next so I value this bobble very highly. The box is detailed as well. This particular set is hard to obtain especially Juan Pierre so I’ll rate the set including the Josh Beckett MVP as a strong 8.0.

Bobble of the Day-Manny Ramirez

Bobble of the Day

Player: Manny Ramirez

Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

Year: 2009

Manufactuer: P2 P Squared

You’d think being a Red Sox fan I would do a Boston Bobble of the Day on Manny but no. This LA Dodger one seals the deal for me. Even though this bobble depicts Manny hitting a grand slam into the left field bleachers I was happy for him. And that’s why I got the bobble. As a pinch hitter Manny goes to the on deck circle to hear the roar of the Dodger faithful. He clears the bases and the rest is history. He takes his curtain call and soon after the bobble was created. July 22nd 2009.

The bobble is dope for many reasons. The obvious dreadlocks add crazy detail and the base is definitely spot on as he’s standing on the dugout steps as he was taking his curtain call for the monster fucking blast he hit. The pine tar on the helmet creates a “real game” feeling.

Sniper rating: I’ve never heard of the manufacturer ” P2 or P Squared” but whoever the hell they are, they did great work on this one. This is a must have for any Dodger fan. The facial features actually look like Manny so we’re going to go with a strong 8.0 on this one.

Luckily for Dodger fans, I don’t recall Manny doing any “Manny” things in a Dodger uniform. I guess he used it all up for the Red Sox and when he went over to play in China.
