Bobble of the Day “Jose Canseco”

Bobble of the Day

Jose Canseco

Team: Oakland Athletics

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: BD&A

Anyone over the age of 30 should know who Jose Canseco is and if you don’t, go slam your dick in a door. This fucking guy along with Mark McGwire were the “Bash Brothers” in the 80’s and early 90’s. Yes, Jose led the league with most steroid injections in his ass but that was the steroid era. Everyone did it and no one got caught back then.

This Rookie of the Year bobblehead of Jose is the shit. He won the Rookie of the Year award back in 1986 after hitting 33 long balls to go along with 117 RBI’s in his first season. On this one, he’s in his open stance ready to jack a homer to the moon. The bright yellow and green colors that outline his uniform is very detailed and sharp. The lettering on the base and on the front and back of his jersey are raised which makes them stand out as opposed to just a sticker. His hair shows waves and is detailed nicely. His face doesn’t particularly look like him unfortunately.

Sniper Rating: I have one huge question regarding this 2016 SGA. What took so long to give out this Jose Canseco bobble? Why didn’t they give this out years ago? What the fuck? Did they want to wait the full 30 years to date when he won the Rookie of the Year award? Doesn’t make sense. I dig this bobble of Canseco and whether your a fan or not of him or the A’s, this should be displayed in your collection. Granted, Jose is hated by 3/4’s of Major League baseball for coming out with that book in which he sold out a shit ton of players for doing roids, this bobble makes it all go away. Awesome slugger, very detailed colorful box and sure fire Homerun stance, this one gets a 8.0.

Bobble of the Day “Tommy Lasorda”

Bobble of the Day

Tommy Lasorda

Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

Year: 2007

Manufacturer: BD&A

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy! This Tommy Lasorda bobble depicts Tommy getting inducted in the Hall of Fame on August 3rd, 1997. This SGA was given out to the Dodger faithful back in 2007. Tommy is an All-Time Dodger manager and fans out in Cali love this fucking guy. Who wouldn’t right?

On this one, Tommy is holding his Hall of Fame plaque proudly as it’s replicated perfect. I love the blue jacket they tossed on Tommy as his name is spread across the back and “Dodgers” on the front. The lettering on the front “Tommy Lasorda” and on the back that explains when he got inducted into the Hall is very detailed. His body type is spot on as the manufacturer made Tommy a little pudgy, which he is.

Here come the negatives. The paint on this is horrible. I’ve seen many bobbles of this exact Tommy with fucked up paint work. There are streaks on the blue hat and I have seen a ton of these with poor facial paint. There are smudges and streaks in a lot I’ve seen. They did a good job highlighting his grayish white hair but overall very bad paint work. Our little friends in China rushed through this one a bit to fast.

Sniper Rating: I want to LOVE this bobble to the highest heavens but it’s hard to. The design, colors and the theme of him holding his HOF plaque is fresh as hell. The paint gets my blood to boil a little bit because of the streaks and spots on the hat and face. I love Tommy, I love that he’s in the Hall of Fame and I like this bobble but I don’t “Love” it. Those 9 year old’s who do the paint work over in China need some more training. A good paint job on this one gets a 9.5 but unfortunately this one is getting a 6.5. Maybe the 17 hours a day the kids are working over there in China need a day off to get some sleep!

Bobble of the Day “Cal Ripken Jr.”

Bobble of the Day

Cal Ripken Jr.

Team: Baltimore Orioles

Year: 2007 SGA

Manufacturer: BD&A

This is an all-time Stadium Giveaway of Cal Ripken Jr. 2,130 consecutive games played without sitting out one? No arm injury? No toe injury? Never feeling sick with a cold or having straight diarrhea? You fucking kidding me? No wonder he’s the Iron Man. I couldn’t pop a boner every day for a month straight, never mind play in over 2,000 Major League baseball games in a row.

The main aspect that stands out on this particular bobble is the brick warehouse standing tall on the back base. It’s fucking awesome. The number of games he’s played is plastered on the back. I love how BD&A had Cal just stand there with his right arm raised like a fucking boss. The facial features are spot on, the uniform is very detailed and the colors are bright.

Sniper Rating: I love this bobble. This one is my favorite Oriole’s SGA. The stance is fresh and the bobble just fits the accomplishment of playing that many games in a row. The Orioles had to make one of Cal as being the Iron Man. I don’t recall how many were given out back in 2007 but this one should be added to your collection immediately. Lastly, the box has bright colors, all of Cal’s stats on the back and the Oriole Bird logo sprayed on both sides of the box. Awesome SGA and Cal is getting a 9.0 on this one.

Bobble of the Day “Mike Trout”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Mike Trout

Team: Los Angeles Angels

Year: 2015

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles (Angels “Bobble of the Month”)

Shame on me for not doing of “Bobble of the Day” on the best baseball player in the game thus far. Trout should have had his own spot locked in already as a BOTD so that’s on me. I mean, how can anyone not even have at least one Bobble of Mike Trout in his or her collection?

This Trout bobble falls into the debatable series of the “Bobble of the Month” category. The Angels thankfully did a whole series of Trout Bobbles of the Month in 2015. This one stands roughly 11 inches and the detail is beyond insane. Mike himself is standing in a boat catching a “Trout” fish. How fitting right? He’s got the fishing gear on with Angels colors, he’s holding the fishing rod and most importantly, he just caught a fresh Trout fish. The detail is phenomenal as the manufacturer added a tad bit of water underneath his boat as an added effect. I never got my hands on all of the Trout Bobbles of the Month that the Angels came out with, but I needed this one in my collection specifically. After all, it’s Mike Fucking Trout standing in a boat catching a trout!

Sniper Rating: The colors, the lettering on his jersey, the fact that he’s not wearing a baseball hat (which would look stupid on this bobble) and the whole fishing theme makes this highly collectible. I don’t care if you hate the Angels or not. Down the road when this fucking dude breaks every offensive record in the game of baseball you will be pissed you didn’t scoop this up when you had the chance. By far, Mr. Trout is the next generational player for many years to come. Must, Must, Must have in your collection. Mike and his fishing boat get a 10.0 rating.

Bobble of the Day Mike Piazza “Homerun Apple”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Mike Piazza (Homerun Apple)

Team: Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets) SGA

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Unknown

So everyone knows Mike Piazza was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this past summer. The Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets farm team) decided to do a giveaway of a “Homerun Bobblehead Apple” commemorating Piazza hitting a blast after 9-11. This was given out on July 24th with a special ticket voucher. I was at this game and there was a huge buzz in the air regarding this bobble. It’s different as it’s not a player or mascot. It’s the famous Apple in centerfield at the old Shea Stadium!

The quality of this bobble is beyond amazing. It’s heavy and sturdy and brings a shit ton of character to anyone’s collection. The apple with the two green leaves is very realistic and Piazza’s number “31” is stamped right in front on the fucking apple.

Sniper Rating: Listen, this bobble isn’t for everyone. Not everyone is a Mets or Piazza fan but you can’t deny the significance of this giveaway. Piazza is known to be the greatest hitting catcher ever to play the game and what this country went through after 9-11 was horrible. When Big Mike hit a towering HR it was a gigantic sigh of relief not only for Mets fans but people around the country. This bobble has so much sentimental value and it belongs in your collection. Awesome quality bobble but more importantly a meaningful bobble to say the least. Once again, the bobble would be much cooler if it came with a colorful, photoed box but this one’s getting a 9.5 rating.

Bobble of the Day Napoleon Dynamite

Bobble of the Day

Napoleon Dynamite

Year: 2005

Manufactuer: NECA

Let’s start off by saying this is a classic movie but I don’t know why. I’ve watched this movie over a zillion times and it’s more fucking hilarious the more I watch it. I don’t really understand the movie because it’s got a shit plot but there’s so many scenes that are belly laughable you can’t change the channel. Whether it’s Napoleon, Kip, Uncle Rico or Pedro, the movie is so funny you’ll piss your pants. I think we all know some stiff we went to high school with who we can relate Napoleon’s character to. I personally think the best part is when Uncle Rico shows off his laser arm and throws the hunk of steak at Napoleons’ grill as he’s riding his bike with Pedro on the back. It gets me every time ok.

Now on to the bobble. The first thing I notice is the spring is extremely tight and the head doesn’t bobble to well. On the base, lies all of Napoleon’s gadgets including his tator tots, vote Pedro pin, numb chucks and his pencil and drawing pad.

His hair, outfit, glasses, teeth and snow boots are spot on. This bobble without a doubt depicts Napoleon to the highest heavens. Also, the box on all 4 sides show so many quotes and pictures from the movie, it’s a must have.  If this happens to lay on your desk at work and any co-worker with a sense of humor that has seen this movie will laugh and think it’s a killer item.

Sniper Rating: This isn’t your typical sports bobblehead but a comedy one. I love this one in my collection because I love the movie so fucking much. I don’t have many movie bobbles in my collection but I highly advise any Sniper to add this one. A highly comical movie, a funny character and an overall quality bobble. It loses a few points given the spring is way to tight and barley bobbles (Maybe it’s just mine). Napoleon gets a 8.0 rating.
