Bobble of the Day “Stephen Curry” Warmup Routine

Bobble of the Day

Player: Stephen Curry

Team: Golden State Warriors

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Curry is as hot in the NBA as anyone has been. The fans love him and the kids want to be like him. He’s got a swagger like no one else and this is why his 2 Ball Dribble bobble is in fact the Bobble of the Day.

Steph does this thing where he warms up dribbling 2 balls( I know that sounds funny but even funnier when I wrote it) underneath the hoop on the baseline. It is fascinating to watch as I’ve never had handles like that when I grew up playing ball nor have I seen anyone do it in front of me. In and out, through the legs, behind the back blah blah blah. You get the point. It’s fucking bad ass to watch.

So now on to the bobble itself. Steph is straight pimping holding the two balls ready to do his thing. Both of his elbows bobble to demonstrate how hard it is to dribble two balls as your warmup routine. I like the detail in his knee pads and gray warmup t-shirt that says, “Warriors Basketball”. The base is unique as it has many intricate cuts as opposed to a rectangle base. The hair and facial features look pretty similar to Steph as FOCO got it right.

Sniper Rating: Everyone fan either young or old loves Steph Curry. He’s the new face of the NBA and an absolute lock into the Basketball Hall of Fame even though he hasn’t played 5 full years in the league. A new wave of young players with swag have increased in the NBA in the last several years. Make no mistake about it, Curry started the swagger and that’s why he has so many fans already this early on in his career. The bottom line is this 2-Ball Dribble Warmup Bobble is dope as hell and whoever thought of this idea to make this one of him should get a raise. We all see Steph doing the warmup routine before the game on the sidelines, but now you can have a piece of the pie right in your hands. The idea, the detail and both elbows bobbing give this Steph Curry Exclusive a 9.5 rating.

PS-Same shitty sticker on the front of the base as his name, takes off a little from the rating. You all know how I feel about those lazy stickers.

Bobble of the Day “Mike Trout”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Mike Trout

Team: Los Angeles Angels

Year: 2015

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

So MLB came out with this “Exclusive” Trout bobble back in 2105. It highlights his 2012 AL Rookie of the Year award and his 2014 AL MVP award. In the bobblehead world, Trout isn’t the most popular player believe it or not. Many of his bobbles you can find on the web on pretty much every site. There’s a lot of love for Mike out in Cali but I’m assuming his games are on so late that folks like us over on the East Coast don’t get a chance to see him play every day.

Anyway, this bobble is cool as shit. The facial features look very close to what Trout looks like. It’s got two circular emblems on the base that bobbles and one highlights his 2012 ROY award and the other his 2014 MVP award.  The red leather batting gloves add an awesome effect as Mike is saluting the crowd by a hat raise. Lastly, the base reminds me of the American Flag as red, white and blue colors are splattered all over the place on it.

Sniper Rating: There are plenty of these still available on the web and you need to get one. I almost waited to long buying this as I totally forgot about it. It’s an easy one to miss but it shouldn’t be. I’m actually mad I just got this recently, as this should have been purchased back in 2015. At the end of the day, this Mike Trout bobble is an absolute must have. It’s very unique, the colors stand out and it’s of the greatest player in the game right now. Finally, Mike Trout will have so many career accomplishments but this one will be the first to highlight his ROY award and his 1st AL MVP award. Basically, this one will only go up in value the better he gets. Mr. Trout and his double “bobble” emblem gets a 9.5.

Bobble of the Day “Mike Piazza”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Mike Piazza

Team: New York Mets

Year: 2015

Manufacturer: BD&A

The lines in front of Citi Field were out of control for this Piazza giveaway. I was there. People pushing, farting, throwing up all over the place. It was insane. I got there roughly 3 hours before the game and a few fans said they’ve been here since the fucking sun came up. Granted, it was Mike’s induction into the Hall of Fame weekend prior, fans couldn’t wait to get their mitts on this one, and rightfully so. Even though I was probably 12,oooth in line I still managed to get a dozen of them.

So, let’s start off with the box. When put in my hands I could tell right away this thing was legit. On the front it’s got Big Mike in his Homerun swing with his #31 right in the corner. His career stats are all over the back but more importantly, it’s sprayed with blue and orange colors which caught my immediate attention. As far as the bobble is concerned, what’s not to like about it? Mike is following through with his HR swing with his arms raised. The lettering on the jersey is raised with no stickers, and the Mets logo is also raised on the hat. The base is pretty cool as he’s standing on brown dirt to replicate the batter’s box. My only gripe about this one, is our friends in China did a shit paint job. There’s smudges everywhere and they half assed the painting of it.

Sniper Rating: This bobble was much more than a standard giveaway at a baseball game. This one was to commemorate Mike’s Hall of Fame induction which means the world to Mets fans everywhere. Even if you’re not a Mets fan you should get your paws on it. This is history here Snipers. You toss this into your Curio Cabinet and heads will turn. Can you imagine when grandpa comes over on Thanksgiving and gives you the ole, “Hey Kid, where the fuck you get this?” The following morning you get up all fat from eating your grill off and you look and it’s gone. Come to find out ole pops Sniped it right in front of your eyes. 2 weeks later you meet your aunt Marge over grandpa’s house and there it is, just sitting there next to grandpa’s old carton of eggs and rusty beat up bingo chips.

Trust me, this NEEDS to be in your collection. Mike and his commemorative HOF bobble scores an 8.0. A better paint job by the young 12 yr olds over in China gets a 9.5.

Bobble of the Day Jimmy Buffet “Parrot Head”

Bobble of the Day

Jimmy Buffett “Parrot Head”

Team: Lowell Spinners

Year: 2004

Manufacturer: Associated Premium Corporation

The Lowell Spinners had a “Parrot Head” night back in the summer of 2004. According to my sources, the Spinners have no affiliation to Jimmy Buffett but they wanted to have a cover band play some of Jimmy’s music prior to the game. They also handed out 500 of these Jimmy Buffett “Parrot Head” bobbleheads to celebrate the night. I was never really a huge “Buffet” type of guy but I dig his song Margaritaville and I’ve gone to his restaurant up at Foxwoods Casino before. Apparently, this dude has a fucking following larger than Justin Beiber getting his dicked sucked by a million groupies. I’ve actually have been to the Casino before playing poker and drinking some crafty’s when he was playing in the arena. Let me tell you, as soon as that concert let out, the mother fucking Parrot Heads took over the entire place. They were everywhere with beach gear on, stupid looking hats and t-shirts, you name it. I guess it’s safe to say this dude is a boss.

So not really being a huge Buffet kinda guy, I dig this one. There’s about a zillion different variations of colors on this thing and what obviously stands out the most is the parrot head. His big ole beak just ready to chomp down on a juicy cheeseburger that’s in his hand. The shirt is designed with a floral look to give off the vibe he’s at a beach. The logo of the Lowell Spinners is on his hat and across his shirt. I love how they threw the parrot resting on a bat as it is a baseball bobblehead giveaway.

Sniper Rating: If you’re a Buffet fan this one is for you. I only got it because I’m a Sox fan and I typically get all of their minor league bobbles one way or another. This sits front in center in one of my curio’s only because it pops with all the colors. It’s very well made and sturdy as hell. These don’t pop up on Ebay very often without being damaged so I guess I’d consider this pretty rare. I like it a lot because it’s not your typical baseball bobble. It’s a fan who’s dressed as a parrot as a follower of a huge icon in the music industry. Jimmy and his Parrot Head crew gets a 8.5 on this.

PS- Just a standard white box puts a downer on things. And also, why doesn’t it say “Parrot Head” on the base anywhere? If it said that this bobble would get a sure fire 10.0.

Bobble of the Day “Ozzie Smith”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Ozzie Smith

Team: St. Louis Cardinals

Year: 2014

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Fucking Ozzie Smith. Granted, I’ve never met him, word on the street is this dude is probably the nicest person in the universe. Always happy and smiling. People told me when I was in Cooperstown a few months ago that he’s the most down to earth guy and always is in a positive mood. A lot of you young bucks never had the chance to watch Ozzie, but he didn’t earn the name the “Wizzard” for nothing. Just running out there to shortstop doing back flips and shit. Anyway, FOCO came out with a series of “Newspaper” base bobbleheads back in 2014 and it was a smart move by them. Only a select few of players were made with the base replicating a “Newspaper” and Ozzie was one of them. On the base it reads, “The Wizzard is Pure Magic” and below that it reads, “Smith Wins 13th Fielding Award” meaning Gold Glove. There’s also a bright picture of Ozzie on the right side as he’s ready to throw a runner out at first. His stance is pretty fresh as he’s in motion to scoop a ground ball in the hole. The uniform is very detailed with the Cardinals logo on his jersey and pinstripes throughout the socks and arm sleeves. His cleats are bright red and pop very well with the all red ball cap.

Sniper Rating: Ozzie and this newspaper base belongs in your collection as he’s probably the smoothest fielder Major League Baseball has seen. Given the detail and especially the crinkles in the base as a newspaper, it’s a sure fire must have. Grab a piece of history with Ozzie making a play in the hole and show it off to your company when they come over for the upcoming holidays. Trust me, they’ll LOVE it! The Wizzard gets a 9.0 rating.

PS- In addition to the bobble, the box is fresh as hell. All sides are splattered with newspaper headlines which makes the actual bobble that much more attractive.

PPS- Here’s a look at greatness.

Bobble of the Day “Ken Griffey Jr.”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Ken Griffey Jr.

Team: Inland Express 66ers

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Alexander Global Promotions (AGP)

So, I had my buddy grab me one of these Griffey’s this past summer out in Cali. My bro told me the lines were a mile down the street and it just so happened to be 96 degrees out. I’m talking sweltering fucking hot. I sure as hell am glad I wasn’t there but props to the diehard fans that went to score this beauty.

There’s so many great things about this bobble I don’t know where to begin. Griffey’s stance is absolute boss as he’s taking his patent Homerun cut. The uniform is extremely detailed with raised lettering and I love how AGP put the red batting gloves on. It looks exactly like Griff and the black eye liner is an added plus. And of course, the backwards hat look that Griffey invented. The base is what stands out the most. It has a rusty brown color with lettering “The Kid” and two bats crossing. The base reminds me of the Hall of Fame up in Cooperstown as it has the “Vintage” look.

img_2116  img_2117

Sniper Rating: For a minor league bobble, this takes the cake. AGP put a lot of time into this one. My only negative I have on this, is it’s a bit to small for my liking. It barely reaches 5 inches. I know it was cost effective to make a shorter bobble for fans but we’re talking about Griffey here! The box is well colored and detailed. This past summer when Griffey got inducted, a lot of teams did giveaways of him. Out of all of them, this is the one you want. I tend to believe Minor League bobbles hold more value than MLB ones and only go up in price as time goes on. The Kid gets a 8.0 on this. If it was 2 inches taller we’d be talking about a 9.0.
