Bobble of the Day Buster Posey FSU

Bobble of the Day

Player: Buster Posey

Team: Florida State Seminoles

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Sooooooooooooooo the Bobble of the Month surfaces again! The Giants just recently came out with a few tricks up their sleeve. In addition to this Buster Posey in his Florida State Seminoles gear, I see they’ve come out with a Javier Lopez in his Virginia Cavaliers uniform.

I told myself I was done with the whole Bobble of the Month ordeal, but I had to snag this one. After all, it’s Buster Posey in his college uniform. I had no idea he even played ball at FSU. Anyway, Buster is standing firm with his FSU sweat pants on with some sandals as I would assume he is walking to practice. The Seminoles t-shirt he’s wearing is outlined in maroon stripes and has his #8 on the front. He’s got a ball in one hand and his BP bat in the other. Surfing is very popular in Florida so I assume that’s why Forever Collectibles added a dope surfboard nestled in some sand. There’s also a few palm trees sticking out from the back of the surfboard that bobble as they have two small springs. Very well detailed if you ask me. The base is kinda cool with the Florida State Seminoles logo smacked right in the middle. They went cheap O again and just put a lazy sticker as Buster’s name instead of raised lettering. We all know how much I hate the plain ole stickers.

Sniper Rating: I dig this Bobble a lot but the timing is very weird. These just came out in early October. Why not spread the word and give it out during the season? Makes no sense. Also, this one is pricey as fuck. They get $79.99 per bobble plus tax and plus shipping. You’re looking at a Hundo for this one which is pretty crazy. Overall, I like the detail, I love the theme, I love the player but I don’t like the price. This random Bobble of the Month with Mr. Posey in his FSU gear gets a 8.5.

Bobble of the Day “Mookie Betts”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Mookie Betts

Team: Lowell Spinners

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

The first thing that needs to be addressed is Mookie Betts is the new rising star in the Big Leagues right now. Fuck Trout, Kris Bryant and Gary Sanchez. Mookie is the fucking man and it’s not because I’m a Red Sox fan but it’s true. This dude’s stats were off the charts this past season and given the fact that he racked up most of his stats batting leadoff cannot be overlooked.

This Lowell Spinners bobble of Mookie is special because it’s the 1st Forever Collectibles bobble ever made of him. Mookie’s got a few Minor League SGA’s but considering FOCO is at the top of the game, this one is holds more value. Only 288 of these puppies were made and are very hard to come by.

Mookie is decked out in his Spinners uniform that’s got a nice red pinstripe down the pant leg. The Lowell Spinners logo is all over the place including on his hat, left sleeve and on the base. I like the base because it shows part dirt, part grass which you don’t see a lot. Since he played so many positions while on the Spinners, who the hell knows what position he is playing on this bobble. I do not like the sticker on the front as expected, because it should be raised lettering to give it more of an authentic effect.

Sniper Rating: Being this is the first FOCO bobble of Mookie, any fan should have this in their collection. Trust me, 15 years down the road you will regret not getting this as Mookie will be the face of baseball for a long frigging time. Minor League bobbles I believe hold more weight than a SGA at a MLB game. So get on this one before it’s to late. Whether you’re a Sox fan or not, this one needed to be in your collection yesterday. Period. Mookie and his first official FOCO bobble gets a 9.0.

Bobble of the Day “Halloween Mr. Met”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Halloween Mr. Met

Team: New York Mets

Year: 2015 Bobble of the Month

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

The 2nd series of the Mets doing the “Bobble of the Month” shows October being Mr. Met Halloween. This one is fresh as hell and gets any fan into the spirit of Halloween for numerous reasons. The base is a shiny chrome color with a raised Mets logo and of course the word “Halloween” on the front. I love the base because it makes the entire bobblehead more attractive being a nice and shiny color. In addition, Mr. Met is dressed as Dracula with a black cape, a red bow tie and a top hat that has the Mets logo on the front. It screams spooky! On his right arm lies a black bat that actually bobbles which is unique as fuck. It’s attached very securely so it won’t crack off. FOCO also put a tombstone standing upright on the back of the base to represent a graveyard. And lastly, Mr. Met is holding a light up pumpkin that’s connected by a magnet. You can take it off, twist the pumpkin on the bottom and it flashes several different colors. I typically don’t keep it running all the time so I can’t really tell how the battery life of the pumpkin is. The color combinations of the inner cape being red goes very well with Mr. Met’s red bow tie.

Sniper Rating: The amount of detail that this Halloween bobble has is incredible. If you’re a Mets fan this is a must have. If you’re a baseball fan this is a must have. If you live under a rock this is a must have. Everyone loves Halloween as it’s not only for kids but adults as well. You’re kids will love this bobble as I’ve never seen anything like it and the fact that the pumpkin lights up is a huge attention grabber. This will turn heads at any party or get together and will make you feel excited that everyone that sees it and will want it! Can you imagine having this displayed on Halloween night sitting on your front porch as all the trick or treaters  stare in amazement? I can and I will be doing this. Happy Halloween as Mr. Met receives a 9.5 rating.

PS-The fact that this is a 10 inch bobble makes it stand out even more. It’s huge!

Bobble of the Day “David Ortiz”

Bobble of the Day

Player: David Ortiz (Final Season)

Team: Boston Red Sox

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

The send off of legendary players started with Mariano Rivera to Derek Jeter and now David Ortiz. The Red Sox titled Big Papi’s 2016 campaign as the “Final Season” and rightfully so. This is what makes this bobble so special. It was Ortiz’s Final Season in what should be an automatic shoe in for the Baseball Hall of Fame.

I want to mention first and foremost that this bobblehead is a sneaky one. I had to dig high and low for this. There’s some slapdick on Ebay that is selling this and I won’t get into to much detail but the guy is a prick. I didn’t buy it from him but I had to do a massive search and finally scored more than a handful them. I can’t reveal my sources but this one wasn’t easy to get.

So, this bobble is signature Ortiz. What stands out first is his famous “Point to the Sky” after he jacks a 3 run-homerun. Once he crosses home plate he pays tribute to God and points right to the sky. The uniform is very detailed and Big Paip’s face looks extremely life like. The base is one of the nicest I’ve seen in a long time. Instead of a standard square or rectangle or even circle base, it looks like there’s a million fucking angles. The back part is square but the sides and front have a pointy like figure to it. It’s so unique I can’t even explain it. The top of the base has Ortiz pointing to the sky with his name and number and the words, “Final Season” right in front. There’s a aqua color background near the top which offsets the rest of the colors. And of course on the way way bottom of the base is outlined in gold.

Sniper Rating: I love Big Papi and I love the Red Sox. Of course I’m going to love this bobble. How could you not like Big Papi after what he’s done for the city of Boston after the Boston Marathon bombing and his 3 World Championships. The dude is a legendary icon in that city and forever will be. I know there’s going to be assholes that connect him with steroids but go fuck yourself. He never got suspended over them and yes, people did look the other way but it is what it is. Plain and simple. Historical player, forever an icon and a bad ass bobble of Mr. Ortiz in his “Final Season”. Big Papi scores a 9.0.

PS- He’d get a 10.0 rating if his name was on the front of the base in of course raised lettering. His name should be there as I’m not sure why it’s not.

Bobble of the Day “Willie Mays”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Willie Mays

Team: New York Giants

Year: 2004

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

So FOCO came out with a series of Cooperstown Hall of Fame bobbles back in 2004 if I’m not mistaken. They are very similar in pose and design. The entire set is very cool, although there are well over a hundred of them. As of right now, I have close to 60 in the set and I have no plans of finishing the whole line of them. There’s just to many and they take up too much room. Of course FOCO doesn’t have a master list because after all, why would they? Of course they don’t!

Anyway, I chose to highlight this Willie Mays because it’s WILLIE FUCKING MAYS! This one is very hard to come by as the typical lurker on Ebay knows this does not appear to often. The first thing that pops out to me is the National Baseball Hall of Fame museum that surrounds 3/4’s of the base. It’s a fresh look and if you haven’t had a chance to get up to Cooperstown you need to. Willie’s name on the front is not some stupid sticker as it’s raised letter printing which I like. That’s the way it should be. The uniform is detailed with orange and black pinstripes and the facial design is high in quality.

Sniper Rating: This whole set is very unique. FOCO mass produced this line of Cooperstown Collection with a shit ton of players. The whole set is almost near impossible to collect. This Willie Mays is in my top 5 in this set. It’s rare, it’s unique and it’s Willie F’n Mays. I love the box design as well as the Hall of Fame is displayed all around the sides and the color combinations of pale yellow, light blue and red really pop. Willie Mays and his Hall of Fame status gets a 8.5.

Bobble of the Day “Wally The Green Monster”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Wally The Green Monster

Team: Boston Red Sox

Year: 2007

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Wally has to be the most underrated Mascot in MLB and I’m not saying that because I’m a Sox fan. First off, who doesn’t like the Green Monster at Fenway? It’s famous and historic and it’s been there forever. So the Sox decided, let’s make a Green Monster mascot and call him Wally. Everyone loves Wally as a friendly, furry green creature roaming the stands at Fenway Park.

The Sox won the whole damn thing back in 2007 and in addition to a team World Series set, FOCO came out with the Wally bobble. This one is awesome. It’s got Wally with his Sox jersey on holding the World Series trophy like a boss! Wally’s green fur goes well with this bobble as it offsets the colors of navy blue, white and red. The base has the Red Sox logo and “World Series Champions” right in front. I love the name of “Wally The Green Monster” on front as it’s raised lettering instead of a lazy sticker.

Sniper Rating: The Red Sox won the World Series in 2004 and FOCO never came out with a Wally WS Bobble. I was pissed because he needed to be included. Thankfully, in 2007 they decided to include Wally and deservingly so. The detail on his uniform, the color combinations and the design of the base makes this a sure fire 9.0.

PS. I love the box as well. Typically, FOCO doesn’t put the name of the player or mascot on the box but they included Wally’s name on the front left side. Extremely detailed box.
