Bobble of the Day “Ben Roethlisberger” Retro Uni

Bobble of the Day

Player: Ben Roethlesber

Team: Pittsburgh Steelers (80 Seasons)

Year: 2012

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

This Big Ben was released by FOCO back in 2012 and these sold out faster than Eddie Lacy could eat a dozen donuts. The Steelers a few times per year wear their “Retro” uniforms and many people dislike them but I’m on the other side. I love the yellow and black stripes on the jersey and the light tan pants. I’m a sucker for “old school” uniforms and I think more teams should revert back to them during the regular season more often. I really dig the wool hat Ben is wearing as he probably just threw a TD and now is straight chilling on the sidelines. The base is very unique as it represents the Steelers 80 years of playing in the NFL. Black and Yellow colors are mixed in on the top of the base and the years 1933-2102 depict the 80 seasons Pittsburgh has played. Can you guess the other feature that I love on this one?

If you guessed the raised lettering you get a free bobblehead!

Big Ben’s name is plastered in white raised lettering which looks bad ass against the black base and the lower yellow stripe.

Sniper Rating: Listen, Big Ben gets a bad wrap for all the immature shit he’s done over the years. One, which includes the rape allegations, is why I can see fans disliking him. It looks as if he’s turned the corner and has dramatically matured. Put that aside, there’s no doubt he’s a Hall of Fame quarterback. He’s got 2 Super Bowl rings and he plays in a high powered offense. In conclusion, if you can get your hands on this “Retro” do it. It’s an absolute must have in your collection considering the amount of detail put forth by Forever Collectibles. This would score a sure fire 10 rating if the box was decked out in the Steeler colors but they went el cheap O and made it a boring simple black box. Big Ben in his “Retro” uni scores a 8.5.

Bobble of the Day “Roger Clemens” Cy Young Award

Bobble of the Day

Player: Roger Clemens (Cy Young Winner)

Team: Houston Astros

Year: 2005

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Good old Roger Clemens doesn’t have to many fans these days after that Mitchell report came out and the “Rocket” got caught using PED’s (go figure). Many people think he’s a pompous asshole and rightfully so. He’s had many instances of intentionally throwing at batters and the whole Piazza episode in which he threw the broken bat at Piazza. The list goes on.

I don’t have many Clemens bobbles but I do like this one however. FOCO came out with a line of bobbles called “Knuckle Heads” and basically, they are a shorter bobblehead with an enlarged head. Most bobbles measure 7.5 inches to 8 inches in height and these Knuckleheads are roughly 5 inches.

The thing that stands out the most is Roger’s vintage throwback “Rainbow” jersey which really pops. The glove is extremely detailed as it looks very realistic of an actual mitt. The pointed cleats that are pointed up seem a bit “clownish” but considering this Knucklehead bobble is shorter than the standard sized ones it get’s a generous pass on the clown shoes.

Sniper Rating: When Clemens was on the Red Sox known as “The Rocket”, I loved everything about him. He was gritty and fought tooth and nail. Over the years, my fan appeal diminished significantly once he jumped from team to team. I hated him when he was a Yankee, Blue Jay but not so much on the Astros. He’s from Texas and this is his hometown. Very few Clemens bobbles were ever made and this one I had to get. The colors with the enlarged head and more importantly his Cy Young award emblem on the front makes this one highly collectible. Roger as a Knucklehead scores a 7.5.

PS- I dig the box a lot. Just covered in print and images that represent the Astros.

Bobble of the Day “Aaron Rodgers” 2014 MVP

Bobble of the Day

Player: Aaron Rodgers

Team: Green Bay Packers

Year: 2015

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

So Rodgers won the NFL MVP award back in 2014 and deservingly so, as he threw for 4,381 yards and 38 touchdowns to go along with a 12-4 regular season record. He single handily won your fantasy football league if you had him that year.

I have over 11 Rodgers bobbles in my personal collection and this might quite possibly be the most unique of them all. He’s got a cool looking stance with his arm raised like a fucking boss (As he knows he’s the shit). What completes this bobble is the gold all over the place. The base and the MVP award emblem that sticks up in the back is as shiny as a fucking diamond. The colors of Green Bay Nation mixed in with the gold complete this bobble.

Sniper Rating: I love the fact that the NFL logo and Rodgers’ name has raised lettering as it makes this MVP bobble, take home the gold. I also forgot to mention the wool GB hat that he’s wearing. FOCO didn’t have to do this, but they did and it’s a much added feature which makes this bobble fresh. The Green Bay colors and the pom pom on the top looks exactly like the one he wears on the sidelines after throwing a 55 yard Touchdown to Jordy Nelson. Try your hardest to get your mitts on this one as A. Rodgers will go down as one of the top QB’s to ever play in the NFL. Mr. Rodgers and his 2104 MVP bobble score a 9.0.

Bobble the Day “Star Wars” Jedi

Bobble of the Day

Player: Star Wars Jedi

Team: Lowell Spinners

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Success Promotions

The past 5-6 years has been Star Wars bat shit crazy as so many MLB and Minor League teams have come out with some sort of character from Star Wars. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan and maybe watched half of the first ever movie. Other than that, I have not watched any other. I just never really got into the craze that people go nuts for.

Anyway, in the past, many teams have come out with Jedi, Yoda, R2D2 and Chewbacca bobbleheads to represent Star Wars. This past summer the Spinners came out with their version of a Jedi. I had to get it because I am a Sox fan and the Lowell Spinners are an affiliate of the Red Sox.

I like the base most of all. I love the raised yellow lettering that offsets the black top of the base. The uniform is kinda dope with the Spinners logo on the jersey and hat. I’m assuming the ball attatched to his hand is some type of “Use the Force” bullshit that diehard Star Wars say but I dig it. It adds character to the bobble. I’m pumped the manufacturer made the light saber green as it stands out much more than a darker color. Lastly, the brown cloak he’s wearing brings the whole “Star Wars” theme together. It lays all the way to the base and the detail of wrinkles within the cloak is noticeable which means whoever made this didn’t half ass it.

Sniper Rating: Like I previously stated, I’m not a huge Star Wars fan but I think this one is kinda cool. I love the color combinations and the raised baseball he’s holding like he’s got some sort of magical power. Given it’s part of the Red Sox the rating gets a little juicer. We’ll go with a solid 8.0 on Mr. Jedi

Bobble of the Day “Odell Beckham Jr.” The Catch

Bobble of the Day

Player: Odell Beckham Jr. (The Catch)

Team: New York Giants

Year: 2015

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Whether you like Beckham or not, he’s the best wideout in the NFL (Antonio Brown a close 2nd). Is Odell a cray baby? Yes. Is Odell a whining little bitch who craves attention? Yes. Is he only 23 and is still considered a “kid” which may give him a free pass for all of the dramatic antics he pulls? Yes. When push comes to shove, any fan of any team would love to have this stud line up every Sunday. Putting all the dramatics aside, let’s move on to the bobble.

Everyone is aware of “The Catch” that ODB made in the end zone versus the Cowboys on November 23rd, 2014. It was a historic moment in the NFL because so many younger players have been inspired by him and nearly every young WR tries to duplicate Beckham.

Luckily for us, Forever Collectibles came out with a bobble duplicating ODB’s catch and it’s pretty bad ass.

The initial appearance of this one has Beckham laying out, ready to fall down and catching the pigskin with one hand. The go-tee and hair look very similar to Odell. The uniform is pretty basic as the navy blue Gmen jersey with the blue and red stripe down the pant leg. I love how they put the blue gloves on him as he was actually wearing them when he made the catch. The base has a bronze tint to it which I dig. It’s different. It’s not you typical white or black colored base. The design is also a nice feature as it’s got a different geometric shape to it. FOCO made the 2015 series having a “springy” to them and I like it on this Beckham one. It’s glued into the base very sturdy and bobbles around very nicely. My only gripe about this one is the fact that the name  “Odell Beckham Jr” on the from top the base is the same color of the base. Why? Why not make it a different color so it stands out? It blends in perfectly and you can barely see it! It’s nonsense if you ask me.

Sniper Rating: Overall, this is a dope bobble to have in your collection. Any age and any fan of any team has definitely seen this catch by Odell. I don’t care if your 97 or 6 years old, you’ve seen this catch. It’s a monumental moment not only in Gmen history but in NFL history. This needs to be in your Curio and right up front. It’s a conversation starter and you’ll have your friends very jealous.

Odell and “The Catch” gets a 8.5.

Bobble of the Day “Blue”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Blue

Team: Indianapolis Colts

Year: 2006

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

So the Colts won the Super Bowl back in 2006 and FOCO came out with a set of Colts SB ring base bobbles. Players such as, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Peyton Manning, Dallas Clark and their mascot, “Blue”. I love this little guy. Just full of color and standing there proudly knowing his team won the Super Bowl.

I’m pretty sure “Blue” started the trend of mascots being made when teams win a Super Bowl from Forever Collectibles. I love the ring base as it’s a shiny chrome color with the Super Bowl XLI sticker on the front. I also like that Blue’s name has raised lettering instead of the shitty stickers. The base is cool because the colors of royal blue, light blue, white and bright orange really pop. The colts were a dynasty under Peyton Manning and “Blue” the Mascot deserves to get some credit. He’s the one who sweats his balls off in that hot and sticky costume and pumps up the crowd for a 3rd and 2 for the Colts to convert.

Sniper Rating: This one is probably in my top 5 of NFL mascots that I own. The colors and even the rarity of it make it much more desirable. The box is cool because it’s a clear plastic screen that displays “Blue” and the fact that all 4 sides are covered with some type of lettering and attractive colors make this mascot bobble a must have; whether your’e a Colts fan or not. Blue scores a 9.5.
