Bobble of the Day “Coco Crisp” Coco Lean

Bobble of the Day

Player: Coco Crisp “Coco Lean”

Team: Oakland Athletics

Year: 2013

Manufacturer: BD&A

So during the 2012 season, the Oakland Athletics put together a dance called the “Bernie Lean” which was inspired by the movie “Weekend at Bernie’s II. This dance is imitating a dead character walking in the movie. I, myself have seen both movies and they a funny as shit, but I never caught on to the “Coco Lean” stunt. Coco Crisp apparently had the Bernie Lean song play as his walk up to the plate song.

I personally, don’t get the chance to watch a lot of the A’s games(nor do I want to) so the first time I’ve noticed this bobble is when it surfaced on Ebay back in 2013. At first, fans were going crazy for this one and the price was high. I actually received this about a month ago as a “gift” from a A’s Sniper.

So it’s very obvious that the head doesn’t bobble but the waist does as Coco is doing the “Lean”. The base is cool with the dirt platform and the letters ARE raised. The waist bobbles very well and “bobbles” with a flick of a finger. I however, do not like the head nor facial features. It looks NOTHING like Coco Crisp as it seems it was just put together quickly with eyes, ears, a nose and mouth. Overall, it could have been detailed a little better.

Sniper Rating: For an A’s fan this is a must have in your collection. The A’s typically put out killer bobbleheads as BD&A creates all of their SGA’s, so if your on the West Coast, get this one in your Curio cabinet. I personally would not spend $50.00-$70.00 on it as the fad of the Coco “Lean” faded away quickly. I guess if you wanna add some “flavor” to your collection then get it.

The “Coco Lean” bobble scores a mediocre 6.0 in my book.

Bobble Set of the Day “Win Dance Repeat” Portland Sea Dogs

Bobble Set of the Day

Players: Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr.

Team: Portland Sea Dogs

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Novel-T-Shirts Inc.

So the Win, Dance, Repeat swag keeps on rolling as the Portland Sea Dogs(Red Sox affiliate) highlight the Sox outfielders doing their dance when they win. Whoever started this out of the 3 of them is a genius. It’s a youthful thing to do and brings the team together. I love new, young players doing shit like this.

Whoever Novel-T-Shirt Inc. is that manufactured these did a fantastic job. All three bobbleheads are well made and sturdy. There’s not to much “Flare” to them as far as detail but I consider it a classic look. All three players are wearing their Sea Dogs white uni’s with a red pinstripe down the pant leg. Each player has their own dance and the fact that the Sea Dogs had each base interlock with each other is sick. They could have just made a square base for each and all three can line up, but no, they had them interlock which highlights their WDR dance. Great move by the Sea Dogs.

Sniper Rating: Why this set is so hard to obtain, is the fact that each bobble was given away on a separate night. If you couldn’t make one game your shit out of luck. There’s always Ebay as an option but you’re gonna pay a high price. I’ve had a lot of Snipers ask me for an individual one but I will not break the completed sets. I know the Lowell Spinners are doing the same trio set in different kinds of clothes but I can already say that this set is much better. It’s the first SGA set out and they are in their proper uniforms. A definite tough set to collect and even though they all came in just a standard white box, this trio Win, Dance, Repeat bobbles score a 9.5.

Bobble of the Day “Cousin Eddie” The shitter was full!

Bobble of the Day

Character: Cousin Eddie

Team: Kane County Cougars

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Success Promotions

I don’t need to tell you that the movie Christmas Vacation is epic. You should know it. Between Clark Griswold and Cousin Eddie cracking jokes, it’s a sure fire way to make your holiday full of cheers. I’ve been waiting for any team “Minor League or Major League” to come out with a Cousin Eddie bobble. Once I saw that the Kane County Cougars were handing them out I got goose bumps. I’m not even kidding.

So Cousin Eddie is in his bathrobe and wearing his trooper hat as it’s cold as fuck out. The bobble is replicating the scene where Cousin Eddie is cleaning out the drains as there’s all types of shit clogged up. Just an overall EPIC scene. He’s got a fat cigar in his mouth and of course a cold beer in hand. He’s probably ass naked underneath the robe but it’s a good thing he’s got his black high socks and black boots on.

Sniper Rating: The Kane County Cougars did well on this one. I love the circular base with the Cougars logo dead smack on top. The lower part of the base is a gold color around the perimeter and it’s got white raised letters against a navy blue backing. Very good quality to say the least and his face looks quite like the character in the movie. As an added plus, the Cougars threw in some chest hair to show how much of a goon Eddie is.

Cousin Eddie scores a solid 9.0. A few suggestions would be a colored box with some Eddie photographs and I would LOVE it if Success Promotions put his name “Cousin Eddie” on the back of the base. That would have been bad ass but it is what it is.

Bobble of the Day “Syndergaard as Thor” presented by Marvel

Bobble of the Day

Player: Syndergaard as “Thor” Bobblehead presented by Marvel

Team: New York Mets

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: BD&A

With all the publicity this Bobblehead has gotten, I had very high expectations. Radio stations, articles and TV shows couldn’t stop talking about it. Let’s be real here for a second. The main reason this bobble got the hype that it did was because Marvel was involved. If you don’t know, Marvel’s branding began in 1961, the year that the company launched The Fantastic Four and other superhero titles created by Stan Lee. Marvel has among its characters such well-known superheroes as Spider Man Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Deadpool, Wolverine and Daredevil. So basically, Marvel is “Comic Book” heaven and they have a GIGANTIC following. All those super hero and comic book buffs knew about this game month’s ago. As my bloodbath blog https://bobblesniper.com/bloodbath-citi-field/ earlier states, there were a TON of Comic Book fans at Citi Field. In addition and to my recollection, this is the first MLB sponsored bobblehead that Marvel has been involved with.

So let’s get to the bobble. The first thing I saw that I instantly loved was the box. After waiting in the sun drenched line for hours, it was a calm feeling when the girl handed me the bobblehead. The front of the box has Syndergaard in a throwing motion with white lighting bolts in the background. On another side it has the words “Syndergaard as Thor Bobblehead”. On the flip side, is Marvel directing you to redeem a digital code to use their app on your smart phone. I highly doubt people even attempted to follow the directions as no one cared. And on the back side is the Mets logo with white lighting bolts streaking through. The fact that the entire box has a baby blue color makes it stand out dramatically and that’s what I like the most. The inner clear shell case is very snug and there’s absolutely no wiggle room which keeps the bobble nice and tight.

Next, I’ll answer the question everyone has been wondering. Yes, the bottom of the hammer does look like a cock. The tip of it looks very like the head of a boner. Beyond that, there’s a leash that is stuck to the side of Thor’s knee. So, all forms of social media and news stations were correct. We have a boner attached to our bobblehead. I actually don’t know of a better way to design it to be honest. Maybe just have the leash at the bottom with no penis head? We all live in a perverted world so I guess this is acceptable. When have you ever owned a bobblehead with a penis attached?

So the bobble itself looks pretty much like it does on the box. His throwing motion to deliver a pitch is accurate. The silver wings on the side of his head looks cool and the orange cape hanging off his shoulders is a awesome feature. One thing I did notice is on the box, Thor has a brown glove and on the bobble he has a black glove. I reviewed some Youtube videos and almost all of them he’s not pitching with a black glove. He tends to use a darkish brown colored glove. So that feature stood out to me.

Now for the complaints. BD&A did a half ass paint job. Yup, they did. I saw a lot of collector’s on Facebook groups bitch and moan that there were paint smudges and extra globs of glue around the bobble. They are correct. Out of the 14 I got, I would say at least 3-4 have horrible paint jobs. Specifically, on his pants and jersey, there are blue streaks all out of place and smudges of orange spots. On another one of mine, there is huge glob of glue near his neck which means our friends in China were impatient and didn’t wait for the glue to dry. For a bobble like this BD&A should have seen this coming and put a stop to it immediately. A lot of fans only received one and if they got one with smudges and globs of glue, I would be pissed. I know I say all the time to embrace the imperfections but this is ridiculous for a bobblehead of this hype.

Another aspect of this bobble I do not like is Noah Syndergaard’s name on the front of the base. Around the perimeter is a Met blue color and his name is in white and orange. As you can see, the lettering of orange and white are completely smudged together. Hence, it looks SLOPPY. It looks cheap and thrown together very quickly. Very disappointing to say the least. I will say that ALL letters on the bobblehead are “Raised”. Thor’s name, Mets on the front jersey, his number #34 on the back of the cape, the NY on his helmet and the sponsor Delta on the back. That was a good thing they did.

Here’s a question for you Snipers. Why is Delta sponsoring this? On the side of the box is reads, “Presented by Delta”. On the back of the base it says, “Delta”. Why are they sponsoring this? Why not leave it to Marvel? By having Delta’s name all over this collectible, is it going to make you want to fly Delta more? Don’t most people choose any airline that’s the cheapest and most cost effective? Makes no sense. Back off Delta.

Sniper Rating: Overall, I like it. I don’t love it, but I like it. Is it a “Bobblehead of the Year?”  Not really. Is it very cool to have and tough to get? Yes. Is it made of great quality and an overall perfect bobblehead? No. I still think every bobblehead collector should score this somehow, but by no means is this the best bobblehead I’ve ever seen. By the way, I would have thought Noah’s face would look more like him in real life. He looks like a 7 year old kid waiting to get handed an ice cream cone. I would have liked a “bad ass” stare or something of that nature.

As you know, this one was a tough one to get. Obviously, it will become very rare by Christmas time and the hype was over exaggerated in my opinion. I’ve never analyzed a bobblehead like this before and I hope to never do it again. The whole experience was exhausting but I’m glad I went.

Syndergaard as “Thor” presented by Marvel and Delta Airlines(hehe) scores a 8.5.

Bobble of the Day “Aaron Judge” All Rise Judgement Day Bobblehead

Bobble of the Day

Player: Aaron Judge (All Rise/Judgement Day) Exclusive

Team: New York Yankees

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

So Snipers, if you want creativity look no further. We now have the Aaron Judge “All Rise/Judgement Day” Special Edition bobblehead. We all know what Judge has done this year so far with the towering bombs that haven’t landed yet and the fact that this guy is only a rookie, is amazing. He’s excited not only Yankee fans but MLB fans in general. The show he put on in the Homerun Derby was jaw dropping and will be hard to ever duplicate again.

First thing’s first. This bobble is HUUUUGE. It’s a 10 incher and weighs 4lbs! Yes, I weighed it. Judge is rocking the white wig and has a very sturdy dark navy blue robe. His Homerun hitting gavel fits nice and snug in the holster and has the Yankee logo painted dead smack in the middle.

His pose is epic as he’s following through after hitting a moon shot to dead center. The base itself is almost an inch and is super thick! The front Yankee Stadium entrance emblem is a classic look with a touch of light grey color. The words “Yankee Stadium” is embedded right in the center with gold lettering.

I love the backing of this bobble as it features a court room appearance. It’s roughly 8 inches tall and has a mahogany color, which displays a realistic feel. Most bobbleheads on the market these days are 8 inches in height and to think the backing alone on this one is 8 inches! There’s tons of lettering imprinted on it which includes, Aaron Judge, Judgement Day, his number #99, and “All Rise” in raised gold letters. I’m happy that FOCO used the gold lettering as it’s a very “classic”, “authentic” look.

Sniper Rating: In addition to this killer bobble, FOCO included a fidget spinner to the mix. The spinner is engraved that includes the Yankees logo, Judge’s number #99 and the phrase “All Rise”. It’s smooth as hell and the bearings within it makes the device easy to spin. Fidget Spinners have been a “hot” item and especially for the kids. When you score this bobble and if you have no interest in the Spinner, hand it over to your son or daughter, as kids love these things.

The last feature that cannot be overlooked is the actual box. I swear, this box alone must have easily costed $6.00 to make. It comes with a front window opening so you can easily view the bobble without taking it out of the box. The velcro tabs to open the front allows for easy access. The inner flap has a dope picture of Mr. Judge himself in a black and white photo. The navy pinstripes on the front and back of the box with the all-white background has a very attractive look. On the back reads, “Judgement Day” and “All Rise” which is a kick ass feature.

I don’t care if you’re a Yankee fan or not, this one is an absolute must-have in your collection. To think this dude is only a rookie and what he’s single handily doing to the league is incredible. You don’t want to miss the boat on this one, as only 5,000 are made and I’m assuming this will be gone by the time the playoffs approach. My only gripe is I wish FOCO put his name on the side of the base in white letters as it would have “popped” with his white pinstripe jersey. I was also expecting the “gap” between his front teeth but I’m sure MLPA and Judge himself would not approve of that.

Between the uniqueness, sturdiness, height(10 inches), creativity and a flashy box, the Aaron Judge “All Rise/ Judgement Day” bobble scores a sure fire 9.5.

Bobble of the Day “Noah Syndergaard” Caricature Bobblehead

Bobble of the Day

Player: Noah Syndergaard (Caricature Version)

Team: New York Mets

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Let me first off say that once I saw FOCO come out with these “Caricature” bobbles, I laughed. I know companies have to change things up as far as designs and what not, but these are quite different in the bobblehead world. Each player has a cartoonish design to them whether it’s a fat head, huge muscles, or gigantic biceps. I decided to purchase one that would be the most unique and it’s of yours truly, Syndergaard.

The base is very thick and has very wide raised letters. FOCO is listening to me because more and more bobbles produced by them come with “raised” letters. I dig the design of the base as it’s the shape of a mini baseball field with outfield grass, infield dirt and the bases. The actual size of the bobble is not as tall but is very wide. It’s a good sized bobble and not a mini by any stretch.

Sniper Rating: So Thor has a elongated face with a huge jaw and a very straight flat ball cap on. I love that he’s holding the hammer to represent that he’s Thor. The wings on top of the hat looks killer and the fact that they are orange pays tribute to the Mets colors. What really makes this bobblehead pop is the long, thick blondish, flowing hair. It’s super long to exaggerate Noah’s hair design. Overall, to collect the entire set is next to impossible unless you have a quick $1,000 to spare. I got this Syndergaard one and I’m happy with it. The box design is kick ass, as it’s flooded with the actual “Caricature” photo of the bobblehead and on the back displays his jersey with name. The pinstripe design with the main color being white is a fresh new look from FOCO. I’m very pleased with this new product from FOCO as they definitely put some thought and creativity into it. Noah Syndergaard and his “Caricature” bobble scores a 9.5.
