Bobble of the Day “Billy Joel” Fenway Park

Bobble of the Day

Musician: Billy Joel

Team: Boston Red Sox

Year: 2107

Manufacturer: BD&A

A lot of you youngsters don’t know about Billy Joel. The dude is an absolute icon and has a zillion fans around the world. The Red Sox and a few other teams came out with Billy Joel bobbles this summer that include the Phillies and Cardinals. Only 1,500 of these bad boys were made and having one in your collection should add a little history as Billy will be known as one of the best artists of all time.

It’s a very classic simple bobble as Billy is sitting at his piano jamming away. The base is black along with the piano and his shirt. The white letters that state his name couldn’t be raised more as they pop out like a mother f’er. The actual keys on the piano really stand out and are extremely visible. This bobble looks exactly like Billy with the balding hair up top and his white/grayish go tee. Spot on from BD&A and a job well done.

Sniper Rating: I am soooooooooo pumped BD&A didn’t give us a plain white box. This one is covered with Fenway “Green” and it’s not even funny. The high gloss feel to it makes it that much more authentic. There’s a dope picture of Billy singing on the front of the box and on the back has the Green Monster scoreboard with the letters, “Billy Joel” written. The back of the bobble has a sturdy cardboard insert of a picture of Fenway Park which is bad ass. You can easily take it in and out based on your preference. A must have to add to your collection and if you have a few of these, hang on to them as they will rise in value once all the others are gone on Ebay.

The piano man scores a 9.0.

Bobble of the Day “Roger Dorn” Major League Bobblehead

Bobble of the Day

Player: Roger Dorn

Team: Gateway Grizzlies

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: AGP

I’ve literally been waiting for any baseball team to come out with a Dorn bobblehead. He might be my favorite character from the movie Major League. Roger Dorn sucks ass at 3rd baseball and is afraid of the ball. After countless reps of taking ground balls at 3rd, he finally gets pissed off and puts his arms in the air saying,”What the fuck, c’mon!”

This is the exact pose from Dorn in the movie. AGP did a very good job on this one. He’s on his knees with the arms in the air as he’s frustrated as hell. The balls that have hit him all over the place are lying right on the ground next to him. The letters are raised on the front of the base and are very visible. He’s rocking the Indians jersey and hat and has his name and number on the back of the jersey.

Sniper Rating: A very tough and expensive bobble to get, but this one belongs in your collection Snipers. I wish there was some brown dirt near his knees instead of just green grass. Lastly, I would have liked if the Gateway Grizzlies made the box with color and some cool photos. Instead, they decided to save a few bucks and gave fans a standard white box. It doesn’t take the popularity of the bobble down, but it is a small factor.

Roger Dorn and his inability to field a ground ball at 3rd base bobble scores a 8.5.

Bobble of the Day “Mookie Betts” Special Edition Bobblehead

Bobble of the Day

Player: Mookie Betts

Team: Boston Red Sox

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Here we go again with another standout Exclusive bobblehead from FOCO. This Mookie Betts takes the cake in the world of defensive bobbleheads. Mookie is known for not only his offense but his killer defense in right field. FOCO decided to highlight his defensive skills as Mookie is literally coming out making a sliding grab.

The most attractive feature is the fact that Mookie is diving right at you. He’s sprawled out catching a line drive with an enlarged black glove and the ball sitting comfortably in the webbing.  His knees are bolted in with 2 screws as the back baseball card base is sturdy enough to hold the bobble itself. The background is a beautiful picture of Fenway Park as the sun is going down. The clarity and detail is phenomenal on the backing. It stands roughly 12 inches tall and is very observant to the eye.

The top of the base is super thick and has a Fenway “Green” color to it. FOCO added some excellent features that includes a sturdy Red Sox helmet and a bat. On the front of the base sits a baseball card nameplate that has Mookie’s stats and player profile. Very creative approach to highlight the player.

Sniper Rating: Going with the Fidget Spinner theme, FOCO added another one to this special piece. Each side has lights shining on the Green Monster scoreboard and is very flashy. Bett’s number #50 is in the middle of the spinner and the Sox logo “B” is on the other side. The smooth 3 blade rounded sides makes the spinner easy to maneuver. On top of it, the spinner is super heavy meaning it’s built to last!

The box is another great thing I love about this overall “Special Edition” bobble. On one side is a HUGE photo of Mookie in a black and white photo and on the other side has a colorful picture of Fenway Park, the Sox logo and Mookie’s number.

Given the height being 12 inches and the amount of detail, I would spend my hard earned $60.00 on this exclusive Mookie bobble. He’s the absolute future of the Red Sox and you’ll want to display this to turn heads in your collection. Limited to only 2,017 this is in my top 5 of Red Sox bobbles that sit in the bobble cave. Mookie scores a 10.0.

Bobble of the Day “Kris Bryant” Special Edition Bobblehead

Bobble of the Day

Player: Kris Bryant

Team: Chicago Cubs

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

I know I’m gonna catch a lot of bullshit from you Snipers because I disliked almost ALL of the Chicago Cubs World Series bobbles, as FOCO oversaturated the market with them. But let me tell you something, this one is different.

Bryant is by far the best player on the reigning World Series Champions and this is the SICKEST Cubs “Exclusive” FOCO has come out with.

Why I dig this exclusive so much is the fact that there’s history behind it. Between Wrigley Field and Fenway Park being the oldest and most historic stadium’s in the Major Leagues, any baseball fan can identify the green ivy in the outfield.

Bryant is absolutely covered in bright green ivy as he should. Wrigley is a place on everyone’s bucket list including mine to watch a game! Bryant, is standing at 12 inches tall and holding up the famous World Series trophy. He’s screaming out loud as the diehard Cubbie faithful finally won the title. The base is thick as hell and has a “brick” design to it which is ridiculous. The words, “Wrigley Field” is written in cursive letters on top of the brick wall and looks very professional. The circular Cubs logo is stuck right on the ivy wall and is almost an inch thick!

Now to the green ivy. The green ivy makes this bobblehead. Hands down. I am absolutely clueless on how our friends over in China hand painted the curvy ivy all over the place. When holding the bobble in hand, it’s down right fascinating! FOCO could have designed the ivy just on top of the base and called it a day but no. These dudes have the ivy growing on Bryant’s legs and up to his chest!

Sniper Rating: Get it, get it, get it! Enough said. The Fidget Spinner is disgustingly detailed with all 3 blades covered in bright green ivy with a light redish color around the perimeter. The box has a good size to it and there’s a dope black and white photo of Bryant. There’s also little vines of ivy creeping around all sides of the box which is the highest of detail. Finally, on the back, Bryant’s name and number is displayed with ivy covering the brick wall.

My only gripe on this exclusive, is I wish FOCO made Bryant’s name plate a little larger and got rid of some of the ivy on the front part of the base. His name is raised letters but I’d like it if it was bigger so his name stands out a bit more.

Overall, this is the KING of Chicago Cubs World Series bobbleheads. Given the height and amazing detail, this bobble will turn heads when viewed in your collection without question. This “Special Edition” bobble scores another 10.0.

Bobble of the Day “Clayton Kershaw” Special Edition Bobblehead

Bobble of the Day

Player: Clayton Kershaw

Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

I already know Dodger fans are going to go bizerk over FOCO’S brand new “Special Edition” bobblehead. Forget even Dodger fans, any fan of the game of baseball should go ape shit over this one.

This bobble is absolutely flooded with detail and the fact that it’s 12″ tall and weighs 7lbs is crazy. When it arrived today, my 4 year old daughter couldn’t even pick it up as that’s how heavy it is. The theme of this beauty is the fact that Kershaw brings the heat in every one of his starts. FOCO decided to highlight the gas thrower himself with a flame throwing left arm. This feature is insane. It literally looks like there is fire from his hand to below his elbow. I love the yellowish, orange and red combination of colors as it really makes the bobble pop. Clayton is in his “release point stance” and the width of one of his legs are the size of 2 standard legs combined on every other 8″ bobble. The mound that he’s standing on is authentic as it gets. FOCO put some grass below the dirt mound and it was a good move on their part, as it gives an actual “feel” of a pitchers mound. And the detail doesn’t stop there. FOCO could have just had Kershaw on a plain dirt mound, but they didn’t. They added the “LA” letters that are RASIED and Kershaw’s full name on a thick “name plate” with raised blue letters against a white background. The name plate itself is almost a half an inch in width!

The lights and scoreboard on the backing provides all collector’s the feel that Kershaw is pitching in Dodgers Stadium. I love the mixture and fading of the “Dodger blue color” with a light baby blue color on the scoreboard. There’s not to many bobbles out there that have a scoreboard and this one itself is almost 9 inches tall!

As you can see, the facial features are spot on and the detail in Kershaw’s wavy hair flowing out the back of his hat is an added plus.

Sniper Rating: This bobble speaks for itself and FOCO is staying with the theme of adding a Fidget Spinner to their exclusives. I love that idea, as the spinner that comes in this box is as sharp as a tack. On both sides there’s a Dodger blue “claw” engraved on each blade and has the words, “The Claw” imprinted within the spinner. Secondly, on one side, Kershaw’s name is engraved with his number #22 and on the other side has the “LA” logo. A very good tactic by FOCO to capture the ultimate fanhood in every Dodger collector.

Lastly, the box is something like I’ve never seen. Except for a few 3 foot bobbles I own, this is by far the largest box that holds a bobblehead in my “bobble cave”. Just like the Aaron Judge exclusive box, FOCO stuck with the black and white photo of Clayton, which is flat out a classic look. I love it. It’s also got the Dodgers logo splattered all over and has an image of the “Claw” on the back side.

This exclusive of the best pitcher in baseball is a no brainer to add to your collection. Given the fact that it’s only $60.00, 12 inches tall, weighs 7lbs and very limited, this will fly off the shelves. This bobble is definitely in my top 3 of “most detailed” bobbles I personally own. My only knock on it, which is not a huge deal, is the fact that this will be very difficult to display. This bobble is so large that it most likely won’t fit in your curio cabinet. This one belongs on your fireplace mantle as the Dodgers roll into the playoffs!

Flame thrower Kershaw scores a stand up 10.0.

Bobble of the Day “Captain America”

Bobble of the Day

Character: Captain America

Team: Brooklyn Cyclones

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: BD&A

It seems as if this year with Marvel characters is taking off. The comic book Super hero’s are very desirable with collector’s and the Brooklyn Cyclones jumped on the band wagon.

I was a never a comic book buff, but I do like these current ones that have been given out to fans at games. We have Captain America as today’s “Bobble of the Day” and it’s cool as shit. BD&A never disappoints with the raised letters on the base and the color combinations are fresh as hell. All blue lower base with red letters and a colorful red top to the base with the Cyclones logo. Captain himself is holding his signature shield as he’s ready to kick someone’s ass. The overall, colors are spot on as a mixture of red, blue and white splatter this whole bobble.

Sniper Rating: Not to mention this is a good looking item, but the box itself is killer. Very high gloss coating with bright colors and the Brooklyn Cyclones logo are added to it. The Cyclones did a bang up job with this one and even if you’re not a huge comic book fan, this one will pop in your curio cabinet for sure. They are going for under $30.00 on Ebay and you should lock one up tonight. In addition, the bobble itself is a shade under 9 inches and not some cheap mini bobble. Make sure you have enough room to display this bad boy! Captain America scores an above average 8.5.
