Overkill on Chicago Cubs World Series Bobbleheads!

This blog has been WAYYYYY OVERDUE.

Okay, enough is enough. Manufacturers will be not be mentioned but you know who they are. Cubbies, we get you broke the historical curse to win the title last year.

I have news for you. The Red Sox broke their million year curse back in 2004 and we never oversaturated the market like what the Cubs are doing. In 04, the Red Sox came out with one variant series, “Fear the Beard”. That’s it!

Now, let’s take a look at all these nonsense “Special Edition” bobbleheads.

The David Ross getting carried off the field exclusive? Come on, I know he’s old and it was his last run at a title but Fowler and Rizzo carrying him as a “send off”? Lose it.

Kris Bryant “Final Out” bobble? Should they do a last pitch out bobble? Should they do a last strike called bobble?

Anthony Rizzo “Final Out” bobble? So, we have one bobble throwing the final out to first base and now we have the guy that caught the final out as a so called, “Special Bobblehead”? Save it okay.

Ben Zobrist “Ticket Base” arms and hands pointed up and yelling? Hmmmm…little much huh?

Anthony Rizzo swinging a baseball bat on a “special” Ticket Base? No thanks.

Arolois Chapman throwing a baseball on a “Special Ticket Base” bobblehead. Yes, he was great and over worked in the World Series but that doesn’t warrant him a “Special Edition Bobble”. And what’s stupid about it, is the fact that every Cubs fan knew that he was going back to the Yankees as soon as the parade ended in Chicago. Some loyalty.

Addison Russell swinging a baseball bat on an oh so “Special Edition Ticket Base” bobblehead? No thanks. Waste of money and a very forgettable player.

Now, the only, and I mean “ONLY”,  Special Edition bobblehead should be the Joe Maddon “The Curse is Over!” with Joe holding the leash with the goat on it. This is a piece of history. This bobblehead alone shows it all. It shows the Cubs finally won the World Series and end of story. Move on and let’s get to the next season.

The fact of the matter is I didn’t even mention the regular trophy bobbleheads and the million “Newspaper Base” bobbleheads that were produced. Way OVERKILL and enough is enough.

I know this team went through a special year. They overcame all obstacles to win the World Series and relieved many fans in the city of Chicago. We all get that. I guess what it comes down to is money. Companies are mass producing anything they can to make the extra buck. I also know I am not the only one who feels this way. What I hope for, is many diehard Cubs bobblehead collectors to NOT buy all these extra stupid bobbleheads. Do you think an Addison Russell “Ticket Base” bobblehead will go up in value in years to come? Hell no. How about the Chapman for example. You think anyone would search in the next 5 years top and bottom for this one, when he was literally a “used” player? The answer is no. Please, take a stand and refuse to buy them because they will empty your wallet and flat out it’s completely 100% unnecessary. Period.

P.S. Should they make a “Special Edition” umpire calling the last out bobblehead? Or maybe they should make a “Popcorn” selling vendor bobblehead that sold his last box of popcorn before the final out?

The Rise and Fall of Matt Harvey

Alright this Matt Harvey bullshit is getting way out of hand. Suspended for 3 games for failing to follow the organizations rules.

What else is there to say?

Truth be told is he failed to show up to Citi Field the other day. Did he rock out with his cock out at a Cinco de Mayo party Friday night? Did he go to the Rangers game and went out for a bender afterwards?

What this situation comes down to is all of the above. He’s going out, getting fucking juiced and the Mets are not Matt’s priority right now. The big black dildo didn’t help either.

The Mets are fed up with this fucking guy and I don’t blame them. He will NOT be wearing a Mets uniform next year. You heard it here first.

With all the shit the Mets are going through this season with Thor going down, Cespedes hurt and Matz on the shelf, this was a perfect opportunity for Harvey to take matters in his own hands and dominate. To keep his head on straight and catapult his career like it once was.

It’s clear he doesn’t care about his teammates as getting blown, being in the NYC spotlight and partying is Matt’s main priority. A selfish, self-centered player with un godly talent is going to waste right before our eyes.

I hope you got on the Jumbo Tron alot at the Rangers game and enjoyed your BJ afterwards.

What ever happened to this bulldog of a gamer that would scare the shit out of hitters?

Recap of Fenway Jedi Mookie Jedi Bobblehead Night

So we went up to Fenway Park last night as it was Star Wars Night. With an exclusive ticket, fans could obtain a Jedi Mookie Betts bobble. Only limited to 2,500, fans got the opportunity to add this beauty to their collection.

We didn’t hit any traffic until Downtown Boston which was brutal. Bumper to bumper which delayed some time. As soon as we arrived, the line to get the Jedi Mookie was out the door. We weren’t going to stand there like ducks, so we went to the Cask N Flagon for a quick pop. If you’ve been to Fenway and drank before the game, you know the Cask is the place to go. Tons of action and it settled the nerves after a long drive with a few beers.

We met up with another Sniper and he tipped us off that the Red Sox had recently put up a bobblehead display inside the park. It took awhile to find, but we got there. Very impressive collection as there were some old school nodders, minor league ones, current Boston SGA’s and a few FOCO’s sprinkled in. All the bobbles were sitting on a flat platform that vibrated so the bobbles could move. Very cool idea. It wasn’t anything like down in Miami and their display of bobbles, but the Sox are coming around.

We then headed straight to the team store to get the Jedi Mookie’s. The line wasn’t too long as we got right in. There were not to many BD&A boxes left as the majority of fans had already scooped theirs up. I knew these special edition tickets would sell fast and it proved to be right.

Overall, good trip and granted the Sox lost, we did catch a quick inning. With two young daughters, the bobble wife at home and responsibilities, we had to cut bait and head home. This was one of many trips around the East Coast that we will be making and it’s way to early to get burnt out.

Here’s some photo’s of the Jedi/Mookie trip last night. And by the way, that “Spend $100.00” and receive a Jedi Mookie bobble is a bullshit deal. I hope there wasn’t any suckers who pulled the trigger on that.

Tired of waiting in line for a bobblehead giveaway?

Tired of waiting in mile long lines for a bobblehead giveaway?

This part of bobblehead collecting really pisses me off. It’s a 7:05 first pitch game, the gates open at 4:30 and the first 15,000 people who enter the stadium get handed a bobblehead. Why do we need to get in line at 1:00 pm or even 11:00 am for God’s sake? We spend money on a ticket, $20.00+ on parking and of course food and drink within the stadium. Just for a bobblehead? Who I really feel bad for are the people who live in Florida, Arizona and California as I’m sure it reaches 92 plus degrees standing in line. People are sweating their asses off, farting and just miserable.

Well I have a solution for this problem.

How about when you purchase a ticket from whatever source it is, you pay an extra $5.00 for a bobblehead voucher? You have to be present by the 3rd inning to obtain the bobblehead or you can go kick rocks. This eliminates standing in line like an asshole getting all types of pissed off. Wherever your seat may be you go to that level of the stadium and obtain your bobble. With a voucher in hand along with your ticket to the game, you are guaranteed a bobble. Sounds simple right? I myself along with ALL of you arrive hours early because everyone freaks the f@*^$ out because they want to make sure they get the bobble.

I feel organizations get a kick while thousands upon thousands of fans are lined up 6 hours before game time with their tripod chairs and umbrella’s on hot and sticky days.

All MLB teams, do vouchers. Make it comfortable for the fans instead of all of us getting pissed off, pushing people and if you don’t have a voucher your shit out of luck. Period.

Here’s evidence of the long, annoying lines where people push, sweat and are just overall miserable.

What I’ve learned about people who wait in line for giveaway…

What I’ve learned about people who wait in line for a giveaway.

One word dedication. That’s all there is to say. While in line for several hours waiting for the Harvey Gnome, I realized that there is waayyyyyyyyy more people that are collector’s than I realized. The bobblehead craze is nuts, I know that. Apparently the gnome game is insane as well.

Hearing multiple conversations amongst people was an eye opener. This passion of collecting bobbleheads and I guess we can say gnomes now, will never die out. I witnessed diehard fans and collectors sitting on the wet ground waiting. I saw elderly people with 4 years left in the tank waiting in line. I saw husbands and wives pushing strollers with fucking infants just born a month ago waiting in line. I saw homeless people with a ticket in thier hand with not a pot to piss in waiting in line. I saw lesbians, and two gay guys kissing waiting in line. I saw a few dudes in wheel chairs with no teeth waiting in line. You name it they were there.

And you know what. That made my day. It made me so fucking pumped to see the dedication from all different types of people that it gave me the chills. They weren’t solely there to watch the Mets game. They were there for the Harvey giveaway. They could have gone the night before or the next night, but they came to this one.

No matter where you are for the next giveaway you go to, observe the crowd while you’re in line. Check the vibe and listen to the conversations people are having. It’s enlightening. And keep one thing in mind. There are so many more people who collect these things than you or I could ever imagine which is AMAZING!

You think this guy gives a fuck about sitting on the wet ground waiting for the gates to open? The struggle is real…

Blue jersey with gray hoodie is on a mission!

The diehards who wanna be first in line…

The line gets longer and filled with anticipation!

Heavy metal dude will put down the drumsticks to get his hands on the giveaway. = DEDICATION

You think this guy wants to be first in line at Shake Shack? Think again! He wants his giveaway!

Wearing dark sunglasses when it’s raining out is a BOSS move. I could tell he was getting irritable while waiting in line…

Finally the flood gates open and ready for the famous “pat down” which takes even more time.

Why we collect Bobbleheads…

Why do we collect bobbleheads? Many family and friends ALWAYS turn their heads or think it’s weird that we collect bobbles, but what is the real reason? Because it makes us happy. Why do people collect cars? Cause it makes them happy. Why do people collect hats and jerseys? At some point or another all of us have been involved in sports. It’s what brings us closer to the game or sport we love.

Recently, I had a debate with a huge baseball card collector and he emphasized that card collecting is much more likable than collecting bobbleheads. I 100% disagree. A baseball card is a piece of cardboard. That’s it. It doesn’t move, it doesn’t shake; it sits there. Are some cards hard to find? Of course! Bobbleheads have character that can’t be duplicated. Bobbleheads move and have different shapes and sizes. You can’t go to a baseball game and receive a baseball card. Bobbleheads you can. You can display bobbleheads. You can’t display 200 baseball cards.

Another important reason why bobbleheads are so unique to collect is the fact that many bobbleheads these days resemble a moment or an experience that happened during a game. A player who won the rookie of the year…there’s a bobblehead of him. A player who won the MVP in the NBA…there’s a bobblehead of him. A game winning hit in the World Series…there’s a bobblehead of of that player.

I recently sold a Mike Piazza Hall of Fame bobblehead to a women out in Kansas. She said she went to the Piazza induction ceremony in Cooperstown and she took a lot of pictures. She bought the Piazza bobblehead and said it was a much better item to own than the 100 pictures she took during that weekend. She told me it brought her closer to the event that she went to and that when she looks at it, she will remember that weekend forever.

Bobbleheads many times are personal memories that people hold on to for the rest of their lives. They bring people that much closer to the game and more importantly to a specific player.

That is why we collect, and that is why this industry will never come to an end. Lastly, any time I have given a bobblehead to a friend or family member as a gift, the smile they give is incredible. It’s hard to describe as they just make people happy. Bobbleheads are f*$*%&@# cool!!!!
