Bobble of the Day “Rickey Henderson”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Rickey Henderson

Team: Oakland Athletics

Year: 2011

Manufacturer: BD&A

The All-Time steals leader ladies and gents. What team this day and age wouldn’t want Rickey on their squad. The dude was an absolute stud and he hit for power with a shit load of dingers. This may well be my favorite A’s SGA given out.

First things first here Snipers, I have never seen such a monumental pose on a bobble before. Rickey is just flat out screaming confidence as he holds the base the he stole to become the All-time steals leader. There is more detail in this one than a Ferrari from head to toe! The base is dope because is shows part grass part dirt infield. His letter name is raised and sits up nicely against the A’s green backdrop. I dig the bright yellow socks and the fact that BD&A made his uniform jersey and pants dirty is such a boss move! The black batting gloves with the lime green fingers is a superb look. And of course the all black sun glasses makes this one a historical bobblehead.

Sniper Rating: I’m going to be frank here. If you don’t own this one and you’re a true collector, then your an asshole. I don’t care if you’re a “young buck” and never saw Rickey play, you get this one. Get your paycheck on Friday morning, search Ebay for it, and cough up the $120.00 for it. I highly advise it. This is a sure fire conversation starter and needs to be in the front of your Curio Cabinet with the light shining bright on it. My only gripe about this one is the stupid sponsor emblem on the front. A bobble of this caliber should not have a sponsor. Usually, I don’t mind sponsor emblems, but this one pisses me off for some reason. It takes a little “eye action” away from the incredible bobble but it’s something we’ll have to deal with. Without question, Rickey and his base stealing bobble scores a 9.5. Sponsor emblem gone, it’s a perfect 10.

Bobble of the Day “Coach K”

Coach: Mike Krzyzewski

Team: Duke University

Year: 2007

Manufacturer: Unknown

The general! Coach K man. What a legendary person in NCAA basketball. You don’t go to Duke to play basketball. You go to Duke to join a “program”. Coach K turns little boys into men when they leave Duke.  His players are mannered, disciplined and work their tails off. Let’s move on to the bobble itself.

A standard Coach K stance with the arms crossed, it looks like he is eyeing a spot on the court in which his team can exploit. Classy look by Coach K with the navy blue pressed suit and shirt and tie. The base says, “Coach K” with the Duke logo on top. The facial features of the legendary coach are on point along with the slick comb over hair.

Sniper Rating: This bobblehead is crazy special and Duke did it right. They made the actual bobblehead a very “classy” look and spiced up the box with color and design. The box colors are bright, show flames that resemble the Blue Devils and a brief write-up on Coach K and his career. As a non Duke fan, I appreciate this bobble. This is one that needs to be on your shelf immediately and displayed proudly. The Blue Devils iconic Coach scores a 9.5.

Bobble of the Day “Stephen King”

Bobble of the Day

Author: Stephen King

Team: Lowell Spinners

Year: 2004

Manufacturer: Associated Premium Cooperation

Stephen friggin King man. THE MONSTER OF HORROR! I’ll be the first to admit that I have never read any of King’s books, but from what I’ve heard they are ridiculously spooky. For those that don’t know, Stephen King is an all time best selling author. He writes horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, science fiction, and fantasy. He’s co-directed several movies and he’s known to write the creepiest, scariest books on this side of the Earth. He’s from Portland Maine, and a huge Red Sox fan and the Lowell Spinners did a bobble giveaway of him back in 2004.

Considering Stephen King has fans all over the world, this bobblehead is a crazy collector’s item as the demand for this one is huge. He’s standing on 3 of his famous books that include,

The Dead Zone

The Green Mile

The Dark Tower

As you can see the base is made up of 3 of King’s best selling books and it’s extremely unique. He’s holding a bat and wearing his Red Sox jersey as a diehard fan. The facial features look EXACTLY like King and the letters of his name on the back are raised and not half assed. Stephen is known for his dark black glasses and this is what he is wearing on this bobble. Of course he’s wearing a Spinners hat as they are the one’s who did the giveaway.

Sniper Rating: If you’re a book reader or King fan, this has to be in your collection. Even if you don’t collect bobbleheads this STILL needs to be on your bookshelf. My only knock on this bobble is the sponsor emblems, as they take away a little from the excellent features of the bobble itself. Tyco Electronics? Merrimack Valley Credit Union? Eh, they’d be better off with no sponsors for a high caliber bobble like this. Creepy, spooky Stephen King and his 3 book base scores a 8.5.

Bobble of the Day “Larry Bird”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Larry Bird

Team: Boston Celtics

Year: 2014

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Here we have an epic Larry the Legend bobblehead and this is my 2nd favorite one of Larry. I literally cannot think of a better way to manufacture a bobble as well as FOCO did with this one. On this Larry 3X NBA Championship bobble, it’s as sturdy as anything. All the gold trophies are snug against the base and the entire body is secured to the base.

I love how the entire bobble is Celtic green as it should be! The base is a little wider than most bases and of course Larry’s name is in raised letter which is an added plus. I love the inner white trim they included as his name is green letters which pops!

Sniper Rating: This one HAS to be in your collection. One of the greatest players, Bird had it all and will never be forgotten when he went head to head with Jordan, Barkley and Magic. A true Hall of Famer, Bird and his 3X NBA championship bobble scores a 9.5.

Bobble of the Day “Lucky the Leprechaun”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Lucky

Team: Boston Celtics

Year: 2008

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Can anyone name a better Mascot for an NBA team? Well the answer is no. The tradition and the history that the Celtics hold as being a hard nosed bunch of fighters is incredible. Shamrocks, leprechauns, bag pipes and the most NBA Championship rings to boot! You name it the C’s have it!

This Lucky “Big Head” bobble is as good as it gets. Never mind it’s nearly impossible to track down, it has the best name out of any sporting mascot. The base is fresh as hell with Celtic green and white “raised” letters around the perimeter. I dig the Celtics logo that’s dead smack on the top. Lucky is wearing a white long sleeved shirt with a shamrock golden vest. Holding a basketball is an added plus as it looks like he’s ready to jump out of a rainbow!

Sniper Rating: The larger sized head brings attractiveness to the overall bobble. The long sideburns and hat that is outlined with a gold trim and shamrocks is a key feature. Without a doubt, Lucky is the greatest NBA mascot hands down. I feel if anyone has this on their desk or night stand they will automatically receive good luck in all aspects in life. That’s why I keep it close by at all times. The Luck of the Irish scores a sure fire 9.5.

Check out Lucky in action!

Bobble of the Day “Kansas Jayhawk”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: JayHawk

Team: Kansas Jayhawks

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

The Jayhawk! Here he is in the flesh! The guys over at the Bobblehead Hall of Fame did a bang up job on this beauty. In my eyes, the Jayhawk is a very underrated mascot in college hoops. I love everything he brings to the table each and every game.

So the Jayhawks won 3 National Championship titles and all 3 years are viewed on the back screen of the bobble. The 3 trophies are sitting nice and snug in various positions on the top of the base. The actual base has a unique geometrical design of the logo of the Kansas Jayhawks which is awesome. Jayhawk himself is sporting eye popping yellow shoes and is wearing the Jayhawk official shorts and jersey. Considering he’s a bird, I love the all-blue feathers from head to toe with the Jayhawk.

Sniper Rating: What stands out the most is Jayhawks dome piece. The red feathers along with the bright yellow beak will turn heads in your collection. Given the fact that he’s holding the ball makes you believe he’s going to the hole and laying it up. I cannot stress enough to scrap some cash and score this one. Only limited to 216, these will fly off the shelves come tournament time and you don’t want to miss out by not getting one. Head over to bobbleheadhall.com, click on “shop” and scoop one up. Jayhawk and Kansas’ 3 National Titles exclusive bobble scores a knock out 9.0.
