Bobble of the Day Penn State “Nittany Lion”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Penn State “Nittany Lion”

Team: Penn State Nittany Lions

Year: 2002

Manufacturer: Bobble Dobbles

So college football is in full swing and the playoffs are closing in. Penn State has cleared all of the negative energy out from under them with the creepo Sandusky and the so called “legend” Joe Paterno. There program is firing on all cylinders and a lot has to do with the Nittany Lion. He’s always there to root on the team and to fire up the crowd and this is why he deserves a “Bobble of the Day” blog.

First of all, Bobble Dobbles makes excellent bobbleheads. They are always sturdy and the detail is tremendous. On this one in particular, the lion is dressed from head to toe with a light brown color and black shoes. I like how Bobble Dobbles has him holding a football as it is football season. The scarf is a definite added plus as it’s probably very chilly at most games in Penn State country. The base is pretty standard as an oval with raised “Penn State” letters which I like.

Sniper Rating: All signs point to this Nittany Lions bobble as a homerun. Whether you like Penn State or not and more importantly if you’re a college football fan, this is a must have in your collection. Lastly, I love the clear visible box to show off the bobble from a distance. Almost around the entire box there are logo’s that represent college football and the color combinations of navy blue and light blue really pop. This mascot of Nittany Lion is nothing short of a 8.5.

Bobble of the Day ” Ben Roethlisberger”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Ben Roethlisberger

Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Year: 2004 (Offensive Rookie of the Year)

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

I know a lot of people dislike Big Ben for obvious reasons but you cannot deny he deserved the Offensive Rookie of the Year award back in 2004. He threw for 2,621 yards and 17 touchdowns as a rookie! Ever since his 04 season the Steelers knew they had their guy.

This bobble is cool because of the chrome base and emblem stating he was the Offensive ROY. It’s definitely a unique base as it has a dope geometrical design. The stance is vintage Big Ben as he looks like he’s scrambling, avoiding tackles and throwing a seed to one of his wide-outs.

Sniper Rating: I know this particular bobble has Big Ben in a black jersey and a white one. I’m pretty sure the white one is a tad bit harder to get but you can easily find this one on Ebay for under $40.00. His stats as a rookie were very good back then, but nowadays with Dak Prescott and other rookie’s are blowing Big Ben’s rookie numbers out of the water. Still all in all, this is a great collector’s piece and once he retires it should only go up in value. Big Ben and his 04 ROY bobble scores a 7.5 rating.

Bobble of the Day “Thundar” North Dakota State

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Thundar

Team: North Dakota State

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

A lot of people don’t know who the Bisons are. They represent NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level and compete in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Ever hear of Carson Wentz, the starting QB for the Eagles? Well he led them to their 5th National Title. Can the Bisons compete with the greats of Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State? No, but they are pretty damn good in the division they play in.

NDSU decided to celebrate the Bison’s success by coming out with a “Thunder” mascot 5 Championship trophy bobble. These are hard to come by and I’m not surprised in the least bit. Over in North Dakota, fans and people go ape shit over their Bison’s. I love everything about this bobble as should you. The Bison head is very detailed with his horns flaring out and scruffy face. I like how he’s dressed in the player uniform which shows a green jersey and yellow football pants. These features really pop and make the bobble that much more attractive. Thundar is holding 2 Championship trophies in hand, with the other 3 on the base. A lot of time and effort went into this one!

Sniper Rating: If you’re not on the NDSU bandwagon, get on it quickly. I consider this a “true” collector’s item as mascot’s seem to be a distance thing in college football within the bobblehead world. When was the last time you saw a college football mascot with 5 Championship trophy’s? Not to many. My only negative on this one, and you can probably guess, is the sticker on the front of the base that says, “Thundar”. It’s a shame because this bobble was so well designed and thy go and ruin it with a half ass sticker. Overall, Thundar, and the Bison’s of North Dakota State get a deserving 9.0 on this one.

Bobble the Day “Stephen Curry”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Stephen Curry

Team: Golden State Warriors

Year: 2013

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Steph Curry wit the shot boy! There are Steph bobbles flying out all over the place since he won his first ring 2 years ago. I feel like the market is over saturating Curry bobbles because he’s the best player in the land. Although, this Curry that came out in 2013 is unique beyond belief. It’s Steph’s signature pose with him yelling after the Warriors win or he hits a motherfucking game winner. The base has the Golden State logo with Steph’s number and of course his name on the front has nice raised letters. His facial features are pretty accurate and his arms looked jacked, even though he really isn’t.

Sniper Rating: This one is very hard to come by as there’s only one available on Ebay and it’s going for big bucks. I consider this Curry a one of a kind because of the rarity of it and this one was created before all of the other nonsense ones came out. Given how sturdy and durable it is, awesome colors and a signature pose of a greta players, Mr. Chef Curry scores a solid 9.5.

Bobble of the Day “Barry Sanders”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Barry Sanders

Team: Detroit Lions

Year: 2004

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Barry Sanders has to be the best running back in the history of the NFL and it’s a god damn shame he walked away from the game. He retired way to early as he had moves I’ve never seen before. On the turf at home, he used to cut and shake defenders like it was his fucking job. This bobble is special tome because it highlights his 1997 in which he rushed for 2,053 yards which is insane. I would have loved to have this dude on my fantasy football squad.

The thing that stands out most on this rare bobble is the bronze base. Most Super Bowl MVP bobbles have the bronze base and Barry never played in a Super Bowl. That’s why I think this one is so special. So, he ran for over 2,00 yards, averaged 6.1 yards per carry and scored 11 touchdowns.

The powder blue uniform really pops and the fact that he’s got the gray football gloves that match his pants is fresh as hell. Another feature is the two black elbow pads which means he’s a straight baller. The facial features are spot on as it definitely looks like Barry. And lastly, the raised lettering on the front of the base that says, “Sanders” is of raised letters.

Sniper Rating: Everything on this bobble screams “Winner”. This one is crazy hard to find and when it’s on Ebay it goes fast! I sold one last year for $165.00 and the guy literally wanted to drive to pick it up and he lived in Detroit! I told him to settle down and I boxed it perfectly like I always do.

Overall, Barry scores a sure fire 9.5 as he retired way to long and fans adore the shit out of this guy.

Bobble of the Day Miami Hurricanes “Sebastian Mascot”

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Sebastian

Team: Miami Hurricanes

Year: 2015

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

The U!!!!! Listen, I have no ties or affiliation with the Miami Hurricanes, but you can’t deny that when a player of any sport that goes there and raises up the “U” symbol with their hands, it’s not bad ass! Of course it is! Raising up the “U” sign I feel is a borderline gang sign for christ sakes. It’s really hard. If I had to go back in time, I would go to the University of Miami just to say I’m a part of the “U” family.

Anyway, on to the bobble. So, Sebastian is the Hurricanes mascot as Miami adopted a native marsh bird called the Ibis as the official mascot back in 1926. The Ibis is known for its bravery as a hurricane approaches.  As for the name Sebastian, I have no idea where Miami discovered that one. Kinda fruity if you ask me. Anyway, Sebastian is wearing bright orange and yellow colors which really pop. On this particular bobble, he’s got the yellow shoes on with orange high socks. His jersey is a colorful orange to match his beak.  Not only does the head bobble but his arms bobble as well as he’s saluting he’s from the “U”. FOCO made their 2105 series of bobbles with a springy attached to the base which is a cool feature. On the springy it’s got Miami’s official log as it bobbles back and forth. The base is pretty standard and the letters are raised but they are silver just like the base. I don’t truly love it as I think it should be a darker color to offset the base.

Sniper Rating: Everything points up with this Mascot bobble representing the “U”. If you look on Ebay, there’s not to many Sebastian bobbles out there. Any manufacturer should start making more of him because Miami University is a top notch school both in football and especially baseball. It’s a shame not more bobbles of Miami’s mascot are not made. You gotta love the “U” and Sebastian rocks the “U” very well. In addition, I dig the colors on the box very much as it’s a maroon color with a visible front that displays the bobble. Sebastian and the “U” receive nothing less than a 9.5 rating. Get this one if you can as this one will turn some heads in your man cave for sure.
