Happy 1 Year Anniversary!!!

On this day (August 22nd) last year, I launched bobblesniper.com. Today marks the one year anniversary and it’s very important to me. When I launched the site, I knew it would take off. I knew collector’s all over the world would come visit the site for anything bobblehead related and I want to make something very clear.

This is not a celebration for me. It’s a celebration for YOU. This whole thing would not be possible if it wasn’t for all of you. Daily, you guys motivate me to keep posting pics, writing blogs, making Vlogs on Youtube and providing informative content regarding our passion for collecting bobbleheads. No one realizes the back end work that it takes to make the site run smooth and the enormous amounts of time it takes to write blogs and to take the perfect pictures, and I don’t care. I choose to do this for ALL OF YOU. The support you provide me gets my engine running each and every day.

Lastly, you cannot believe how happy it makes me knowing I helped add to your collection. I’m very humbled when you guys message me saying “Thank You”. It literally brings a smile to my face. I receive a ton of pictures of your collections, and if I helped in any way that satisfies me so much. Again, thank you as this is YOUR celebration, not mine. Get ready and buckle up as there’s MUCH MORE to come!

What do friends and family think of your bobblehead collection?

I wrote a blog about this months ago and I’d like to revisit it. What do your friends and family members say when they see your collection? I’m more or less talking about if you have a cabinet filled with bobbles not just on your desk in your bedroom.

What do people think? Are they impressed? Are they in awe? Do they make a snarl comment?

I can remember back to when I first started collecting, my mom and dad came over and they shook their heads. My dad is a huge sports fan and he just thought I was too old for these little things. My bro’s first laughed and soon after, they asked if I had an extra of a certain bobble.

A few years later, when I started the website and changed the way people view and share their passion for collecting, the snarl comments and giggles turned into “Wow”. The point of this is TO NOT CARE WHAT OTHERS THINK. If it’s what makes you happy then forget all the doubters. Most of us are all grown men, and we can look at others who collect books and recipes that sit there and collect dust. Share your experiences on what others view and say about your collections!

Would you rather have your bobbleheads not smile?

It doesn’t matter if you have 3 bobbleheads or 15,000. Would you rather have your bobbleheads not smile?

I know bobbleheads are considered toys or figures and what not, but during the course of a baseball, basketball or football game, do players smile a lot? Not really. When Mike Trout dives for a line drive, does he smile? When Kershaw is in motion to throw a 94 MPH fastball on the black, does he smile? The answer’s no.

I took a stroll through the bobble cave the other day and 97% of my bobbles are all smiling at me. I personally would like many more to have a bad ass look. Just a flat out straight, hard ass look. I think a “mean” look would create some toughness to the passion of collecting. That’s just me. What about you Snipers? Smiling or “Hard Ass” face?

Here’s a few “Hard” and not “Hard” faces.

Definitely a “Hard” look.

Definitely not a “Hard” look.

Fenway Park/Billy Joel/Walk off/Brooklyn/Squints/Sandlot recap

What a way to spend a few days right in the middle of the summer. Here’s a little recap of the events that went down earlier this week,

So, I took the bobble wife to Boston because it was a “Special Ticket” giveaway for an exclusive Billy Joel bobblehead. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not the biggest Billy Joel fan, but I do like some of his songs. He’s great at what he does and I know a lot of collector’s would love to get their mitts on this one. Instead of driving back home at midnight, we looked into getting a hotel for the night. We needed to get away from the kiddos for a bit and this was the perfect opportunity. This time we were selfish. We wanted a hotel AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to Fenway Park. After extensive research, the closest hotel was a place called The Verb. Looking at the pictures online, it seemed like a super “hipster” rock n roll themed hotel. All different colored windows and record albums all over the place. We only wanted to stay the night, so it was very expensive and we crossed our fingers hoping it would be kick ass. When I mean close to Fenway, I mean REALLY FUCKING close!

We drove up, checked in and The hotel “The Verb” and it was all decked out with memorabilia and hipster signs all over the place. It was definitely something we weren’t used to, but at the same time it was unique as hell.

We went straight to the pool for a dip. Let me tell you something. I would have never imagined in a million years, that I would sit my ass in a pool, in the middle of a city and have the back of Fenway Park staring right at me. It was cool as shit. We got a balcony room which was perfect.

It was time to head to the game and score the bobbles. The lines were packed to get in but they moved fast. Since this was a Billy Joel “themed” night, they had a cover band of Billy Joel playing right on Yawkee Way. The Bobble line wasn’t that long at all. I scored a full case of them and ran back to the hotel and had valet pull my ride up to pop them in the trunk.

So, we hopped around to a few bars, scored a sausage and pepper and then headed to our seats. If you’ve ever been to Fenway, you have to get a sausage. Best around hands down.

These seats by far were the best I’ve had. 3 rows dead smack behind home plate.

Some dude next to me let me borrow his bobble for a quick pic.

For most of the game is was back and forth. Sale got hit around quite a bit and each team exchanged runs throughout the night. In between innings, the beers were flowing and the dogs were juicy and hot.

You all know how the game went, but when Austin Jackson made the over the wall catch every fan was in awe. Once the umpire made the “out” call after reviewing the replay, the entire stadium clapped. That’s the character the Red Sox fans have. They appreciate great plays even coming from the opposing team.

And then the magic happened. Bottom of the 9th, with 2 outs. Christian Vasquez with an absolute fucking moonshot to dead center to win the game. I lost my voice I was screaming so loud. The entire place erupted. It was the most amazing game I’ve ever seen. Yes, I am praying if you can see me.

After the game, I was so hammered, I had to check out the team store one last time before we went to the bar. Good thing I didn’t spend a lot of money on stupid shit I don’t need. I saw this dude buy a Pablo Sandoval bobble that was reduced in price to $5.00. What a sucker!

Yup, the ride home the next day was miserable. Hungover and tired as fuck. We got home and I crashed for 30 minutes before I jumped in the car to head to Brooklyn for Squints night. I’ll be the first to admit it, I HATE driving to Brooklyn. Fucking traffic and it took a little less than 2 hours to get there. Overall, miserable ride but I do like MCU park. You can see all the lights from the rides in Coney Island.

Obviously, the highlight of the night was the guest appearance of Squints. The stadium was literally empty because everyone was waiting in line to meet Squints and to score an autograph from him.

There was a ton of collector’s there and I chatted it up for a bit with a few. It was good to mingle with a few of you Snipers. I went Instagram live and got some close ups of Squints. Real cool dude and he almost looks the same as when he was a little kid. He was rocking the tattoos and was an overall cool guy as he greeted all the fans.

I’d say I was there less than 25 minutes as I got my bobbles and got the hell outta there. Another long drive home and a very long 2 days.

A great 2 days overall as the hotel was sick, the game was amazing and Squints was dope as hell. I highly recommend going to Fenway if you’re ever near the East Coast and definitely check in at The Verb.

On to the next bobble game this Saturday. Stay tuned.

Hartford Yard Goats “Chomper” Bobblehead Recap

So the Hartford Yard Goats in Connecticut are a brand new minor league team as they are the affiliate of the Colorado Rockies (AA). The stadium is brand spanking new and I’ve wanted to go to a game all season and decided to make it a bobblehead game.

Their mascot named “Chompers” was the bobble given out to the first 2,000 fans. This was just one gate.

I brought the wife and kids as I heard there is a shit load of activities for the youngsters.

It was a good hour ride and we got there roughly 30 minutes before the gates opened.

There was maybe and I mean maybe, 20 people in line. To make a long story short, this was a bobblehead collector’s dream game. Alot of the fans didn’t even know there was a giveaway and they were handing the Bobbles out like they were candy. To be quite frank, we had fans come up to us asking if we got a bobblehead as they didn’t even want theirs. I ended up with 17 total and could have easily have gotten 40-50, but room in the bobble cave is getting slim and I just don’t want that many.

I have never seen such a cleaner park. Everything from the concession stands to the bathrooms to the rows of seats, everything was immaculate.

We had to score a few cold ones and we brought the kids around to see the goats. They loved them but they stunk like shit. They had a huge bounce house, live music and “Chompers” the mascot running around greeting fans.

Overall, it was a good family day. If you’re ever in CT in the summer time I highly recommend going to Dunkin Donuts Park to see the Yard Goats play. It was a great first time experience and tons of action for the fam.

The bobblehead itself is very cool. Tons of flashy colors, a detailed sponsor emblem and a very sturdy structure to it. Alot of people don’t know who the Yard Goats are but their mascot is cool as shit. If you need one let me know. Especially, if your a mascot or a minor league bobble collector.

Now on to the bigger games. Long week ahead so stay tuned!

The Bloodbath at Citi Field

The bloodbath at Citi Field

Let’s get straight to the point here. Everyone knew the hype with this game. Boomer and Carton discussed the “Marvel” Thor Syndergaard bobble on the air, USA Today wrote an article, Bleacher Report wrote an article etc. I even wrote a preparation blog and how crazy it would be to help you guys out. Once again, I was right. Everything I discussed in my preparation blog was accurate.

I arrived with the wife around 1:00. There was maybe, 20 people in line. I’ll openly admit it was to early to get there. But, I was prepared. No one knew when people were going to start lining up so I wasn’t to upset that we got there early. I took a stroll around the gates and saw the boxes stacked but mostly stayed off the grid.

I scoped the scene out and I got in the bag line at 2:30 and there was maybe 40 people ahead of me. Perfect position.

If you want to get technical, these two ladies sitting in folding chairs were the first to enter the stadium.

Within an hour, there were thousands and I mean thousands of people. Every line to each gate had a sea of people. It was grueling hot and I just kept chugging water. I left to take a piss in the porter potty and I almost got lost on the way back there was so many people. I’ve been to way to many bobblehead games and this one takes the cake. There were people farting, sweating, fainting, arguing, pushing you name it. There were guys dressed up and wore different kinds of crazy masks as this dude had an Iron Man helmet on.

I stood on a curb and estimated there were easily 20,000 people surrounding Citi Field. No joke. Employees that were going in to work the concession stands had to muscle through the lines of people. Little kids were getting impatient and old grandma’s were hanging by thread by leaning on their canes. By 3:00 there were police cars by the 7 line station, cops on scooters, undercover cops telling people in line to spill out their beers etc. Soon after, the security guys with the “search wands” appeared and they were ready to pat people down. It was “gametime!”

Season ticket holders got first crack of getting in the stadium as they were allowed to enter 30 minutes before everyone else. All you saw were hundreds of people holding their bobbleheads going up the escalator. Once people in line saw that, the anxiety started to kick in. Little kids were crying, new borns were getting fed a bottle, people started cutting others in line, you name it.

So the cock suckers the Mets are, they held their ground by opening up the gates at exactly 5:10pm. They knew people were waiting for countless hours in the heat. They couldn’t open 20 minutes early? Made an announcement? No. Exactly 5:10 on the dot!

So, the gates finally opened and we got in and collected our bobbleheads. I kid you not, I have never seen the security presence this strong. Citi Field had 2 guards for every gate. There was 5 uniformed cops right behind them looking for people to just throw out. It was a crazy scramble.

We went up the escalator and saw another 4 security guards just eyeing the scene. We looked down below and just saw thousands of fans just swarming the gates trying to score the bobble.

Within 5 minutes, I turned around and saw at least 8 guys with big bags trying to buy bobbleheads from people. There were 2 guys right by the escalator and a bunch of others spread out. They failed big time. Every fan shook their head and pretty much said, “Fuck off, I’m keeping it”. Within 25 minutes, all the bobbleheads were gone. I looked down towards the gates and every brown box was empty. Gone!

We met up with some friends eventually and had a nice cold beer and some grub with them. Citi Field knows how to prepare a hot dog and fries. After all the pressure and anxiousness, a cold beer felt good.

The best part of the night was meeting at least a dozen Snipers throughout the night. We shared a bunch of stories and it was good to connect with all of you. I’m glad you guys came out and gutted out the wait for the bobble.

By the way, never even think about going into a store like this. Prices are tripled and if you want game used memorabilia, hit the internet as stores like this will rape you.

The stadium was definitely live. There was a ton of energy and it seemed everywhere you looked you saw the Mets promoting this bobblehead night. It was plastered in stores, billboards, in the bathrooms you name it.

We took off around the 7th inning as it was a long ass day and I was shot. I ended up with 14 bobbleheads. How I scored them is a mystery I cannot reveal. A lot of you guys ask me “How do you get so many” and if I tell you, my system that I use goes to shit. I didn’t pay a single dollar for each extra, and no, I didn’t steal them. My wife didn’t help me if that’s what your thinking as well.

This bobblehead game was a bitch to get extras and I knew that going in. Everyone, and I mean everyone that was in line early was keeping their collectible. I overheard some scum bags offer $50.00 for one and people just walked away. I don’t think we’re ever gonna see a game like this again. Citi Field made it a point to bump up security and it paid off. Many big time collectors and flippers couldn’t even scratch 5 extras. My system prevailed and as much security as Citi Field threw at us, we still walked away with 14 in total.

I received a lot of hate messages saying I stole bobbles away from little kids and a lot of people didn’t get a chance to have one. You know what? Those people who carelessly arrived late and didn’t sit in the fucking heat for hours and sweated their nuts off probably doesn’t deserve one. Not to be a dick, but they knew the hype. They knew this was a huge game for collectors of all ages. Shame on them for showing up late thinking they were gonna be handed a bobblehead 10 minutes after the gates open. No sympathy for those folks.

Now, the bobblehead itself will be discussed in a “Bobble of the Day” blog, as I know many of you are anxious to know the result. Overall, this was a bloodbath of an event and will be hard to replicate in the future.
