Bobble the Day “Slider” Cleveland Indians “Headline” Mascot Bobblehead

Bobble of the Day

Mascot: Slider

Team: Cleveland Indians

Year: 2017

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

FOCO comes out with their basic generic player and mascot bobbles each year that are numbered to whatever year it is. They are typically sold at every stadium and are easy to find. Some years I like them and some years they are just eh. This year, FOCO designed their 2017 “Headline” series like you wouldn’t believe. I’ve seen several photo’s of their players and mascots and I looooooooooove them. I decided to do a blog on “Slider” as I know there’s many Indian fans and Cleveland Snipers.

First and foremost, FOCO changed the base dramatically. The new geometrical shape is a longer oval design with an indented insert on the sides. I love it, as it makes the name of the player or mascot lettering that much more visible. The top of the base has a “Headline” newspaper design which is flashy as hell.

Sniper Rating: Thankfully, FOCO changes the stance of each player/mascot every year. This Slider is all decked out with the red shoes on, all pink fur and the Cleveland hat sits comfortably on top of Slider’s blond hair. No doubt this “Headline” bobble is 100% worth the $30.00 price tag at the Bobblehead Hall of Fame. Sneak over to their website and score this for an early Christmas gift for your diehard Indian fan!

What’s the best sponsor emblem on a bobblehead?

What’s the best sponsor emblem on a bobblehead?

On just about every SGA, there’s a sponsor emblem. It’s typically right in front and very visible as the sponsor themselves feel their money is going to increase revenue. After all, that’s why sponsors put their name on a bobblehead for the giveaway. Often times I feel the emblems get in the way and lose attractiveness from the bobble itself, but I’ve come to terms that they are just not going away. And as time has gone on, I’ve started to actually like them more and more. So, I’ve taken the liberty to present some of the best and not so great sponsor emblems that I have within my collection.

Pepsi and Coca-Cola . I’ll be the first to say that I maybe drink one can of soda a month. Given the fact that soda is God awful for you, everyone can relate and more importantly recognize the Pepsi and Coca-Cola logo. Pepsi is well advertised on SGA bobbleheads.

Coca-Cola is no slouch either advertising on bobbles.

I’ve never eaten at WaBa Grill, but I hear it’s fucking awesome. If I’m not mistaken it’s out West.

ATT. I get the concept of trying to promote your cellular services, but this emblem on my giveaway I receive at the gate will not make me change my mobile service provider. Sorry

I’m a grilling type of guy so this Old Bay Seasoning will 100% catch my attention. Well done Baltimore Orioles.

Need paper supplies? Look no further than W.B Mason

Another HOMERUN sponsor as anyone who doesn’t eat Lay’s potato chips needs a good swift kick to the nuts. Great chips, better snack, Lay’s is the shit. Period.

I love the Dunkin Donuts logo. It pops. It’s bright. Surprisingly, this is the only bobble I own that has the Dunkin sponsor logo. It doesn’t matter because Dunkin Donuts doesn’t need to advertise. They blow Starbucks out of the fucking water and their coffee speaks for itself.

Now, alot of these Minor League league baseball teams have the local dentist and chiropractor offices as their sponsor, but they don’t do anything for the global collector. If you don’t live in Portland, Maine, then why would you go to Cappeta’s dentistry? Bottom line is they sponsor these teams so they gain local customers.

Send me some photo’s of your favorite sponsors and I’ll throw them up on the site.

Motivational Thursday

My high school yearbook quote was “Don’t hesitate to take advantage of an opportunity.” I still stand by that statement and so should you. You need to have the awareness that when an opportunity comes, you gotta JUMP right at it! Whether it’s a new position at work or a new sales deal, you have to drag your ass through that door. We are all adults and our mommies won’t be there to guide you through life. Take that opportunity and pounce at it before it disappears.

How should bobblehead be spelled?

Everywhere you search whether it be Google or Youtube regarding bobbleheads, everyone spells it different. The word “bobble” is an actual word. Many people spell it as “bobblehead or bobble head”. I’ve been known to spell it both ways as well. So for some clarification here ya go.

According to dictionary.com the definition of bobble is as follows:

1. a repeated, jerky movement; bob.
2. a momentary fumbling or juggling of a batted or thrown baseball.
3. a repeated “bobbing” movement
So for you English scholars, both “bobble” and “head” are actual words. When you combine both words together (bobblehead) it turns it into a “compound” word, which is the combination of two words in one.
Either way you want to spell it, I can give two smelly shits. Although, I do get a kick out of some of you who spell it either bobblehead or bobble head. Technically, the correct way to spell it is “Bobblehead”. There’s your Language Arts lesson for the day.

Are you a one team or a variety bobblehead collector?

What I mean by this, is do you collect just one team, multiple teams, or have your collection scattered all over the place?

Originally, when I started collecting, I only had a vision to collect Red Sox bobbles. As time went on, I started to develop a likeness for multiple teams and players. For months, all I focused on were Seattle Mariner bobbles and specifically Ichiro, Griffey and King Felix. That stopped abruptly and then I turned my attention to SF Giants and Dodger bobbles. Soon after, Trout and Harper were the new studs in the game and I soon found myself scoring a shit ton of their bobbles.

I went through many” binge collecting” for quite a few years. Now, I am currently all over the place. I get shit sent to me on a weekly basis from the 4 major sports and I’ve enjoyed collecting the movie character bobbles. I would advise staying committed to you’re favorite team but who the fuck am I to tell you what to do, as I just explained that my collection is all over the place as far as variety. The only negative with a massive, scattered collection is space. Space in most homes are extremely limited as the big cabinets take up a lot of room and then there’s hearing it from the wife or girlfriend.

My ultimate suggestion is buy whatever the fuck you desire and not worry about anything. If it makes you happy then you’ve won. Bottom line. We’re on this earth for a limited amount of time so Snipe any bobble you desire.
