How Has Your Bobblehead Year Gone?

As we slowly approach the month of October and playoff baseball creeping up, I want you to think and also let me know how your overall bobblehead season has gone. The reduction of SGA’s were practically gone in 2020 as Covid took over and last year’s bobbles were given out this year. Did you have the opportunity to obtain all the ones you wanted? Did you attend a lot of games? For myself, I personally only went to 2-3 games this year as having 2 young Snipers takes up a ton of time. For the new Snipers, one day you’ll find out the difficulty around summer camps, sports events and hectic schedules that it’s not as easy to attend a bunch of games.

If you’re a strict retail collector, are you satisfied with the ones that were produced or were you expecting something different? We all know the massive delays that is happening with the ports being absolutely backed up as many retail and for that matter, SGA bobbles were delayed. Within the foreseeable future, we can expect more and more delays over at customs as there hasn’t been a clear resolution other than paying triple to move a port up so items can reach their expected delivery date.

As a collector of pretty much any player, team and mascot bobble, this year was a sigh of relief as we all got screwed last year. I want to hear about your experiences this year in all markets and how you feel the bobble season went. It’s clearly not over, but we all can agree it’s starting to wind down.

Hamilton Is An Internet Sensation/Super Fan In Philly And The Hall Has His Bobblehead

This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled a limited-edition bobblehead of Giovanni Hamilton, the 13-year-old Philly sports podcaster, super fan, and internet sensation. Giovanni is part of the “Eagles Unfiltered” podcast team and in his popular “Philly Sports with Giovanni” podcast he goes 1-on-1 with some of the top athletes in Philadelphia and beyond. The special edition bobblehead is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in conjunction with Giovanni, and the Hall of Fame and Museum will be donating $5 from every bobblehead sold with half going to Giovanni and the other half going to the Ertz Family Foundation.

Standing on a circular base bearing his name, the smiling Giovanni bobblehead, sporting a green mohawk, is wearing a green T-shirt that says “Philly Strong” across the chest, khaki shorts and green shoes. He is holding a football in his right hand and giving the No. 1 signal with his left hand. Each bobblehead will be individually numbered to 2,021 and they are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads are $25 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.

Giovanni has overcome significant challenges to become a well-known and loved Philadelphia sports super fan and podcaster. He was born with a rare genetic disorder called Schwartz-Jampel Syndrome, which causes skeletal abnormalities and severe muscle stiffness. In 2018, the Eagles helped make Giovanni’s dream of attending a game at Lincoln Financial Field come true. During training camp in 2019, Giovanni met former Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz through a foundation called Bianca’s Kids. From his wheelchair during a meet-and-greet, Giovanni broke down and was able to tell Wentz, “You’re my hero,” during an emotional exchange. Giovanni, who has had more than 15 surgeries since the age of 2, looked at Wentz as a role model for his ability to come back from multiple season-ending injuries. Since meeting with Wentz, Eagles fans have donated tickets so Giovanni, who lives in Lycoming County in central Pennsylvania, can be part of the game-day experience.

With more than 40,000 followers on Twitter (@GioThePodcaster), Giovanni made headlines during the 2020 NFL season when his “get well” video to injured Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott went viral on social media, accumulating more than two million views. Prior to the 2021 season, Giovanni was devastated when Wentz was traded by the Eagles to the Indianapolis Colts. In an emotional video that later went viral, he said a tearful goodbye to his hero. When the trade became official a month later, Giovanni went on Twitter wearing a new Wentz Colts jersey, revealing the quarterback’s new number (No. 2). Wentz has invited Giovanni and his family to a Colts’ home game during the 2021 season. In recent months, Giovanni made a trip to State College to watch Penn State’s final spring football practice. He also threw out the first pitch at a Phillies game.

“When I watched Giovanni’s video following Carson’s trade, I immediately reached out on Twitter to offer to send some Carson bobbleheads. The more I learned about Giovanni, the more I realized we needed to honor him with a bobblehead,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “Gio’s passion for both sports and life are unmatched and his spirit and determination serve as an inspiration to all that we hope to embody in this bobblehead which will also help support some great causes.’”

Why Now Is The Greatest Time To Evaluate Your Bobblehead Collection

It’s that time of year Snipers as the dog days of summer is winding down. To some capacity, we all had access to many SGA’s this year (mostly left over from 2020). The biggest difference we’ve seen as opposed to last year receiving zero bobbles, is we attended games. We finally had the opportunity to Snipe and build much needed leverage.

For those who are new to our community, building leverage is the ultimate hustle to help build our collections. When you have so many extra bobbles that you’ve Sniped, you have a tremendous amounts of trade bait as well as selling purposes to generate more income.

So with a little less than 2 months of baseball SGA’s left, now is a good time to reach out to other collector’s to dump what you’ve obtained this summer. We all know none of us cannot attend every single game so your trade bait comes in extremely handy.

If you’ve been strictly buying retail bobbles, you know very well the waiting game as your item that you paid generously for won’t arrive to you for 4-5 months. The flippers are always pre-selling without having the bobble in hand so stay clear from them. If you’re not a flipper and a collector of retail, enjoy. Since joining the Bobblehead Hall of Fame team, don’t hesitate reach out if there’s anything on their website that you’d like to add to your collection.

Without a doubt this year has been much more rewarding as opposed to last year, so go through all your shit and get ready for the winter months. There will always be NHL, NBA and a few NFL SGA giveaways but nothing compared to the summer months of baseball.

Feel free to reach out if I or any Sniper can help you in anyway possible.
