Bobble Collecting Story “Vince Lombardi”

So my dad has always been a huge Packers fan. Ever since he was a kid he’s rooted for them. So my pops has a good friend who lives in Wisconsin and he often goes to Packer games. Well, two years ago my dad’s buddy came up to visit and see my father for a few days. Well, he came barring gifts. He brought my dad and myself a few Vince Lombardi bobbleheads that he scored at the Packers team store. I couldn’t believe it as my dad told him I collect bobbles and he thought of us enough to bring some along while he visited. Great guy and even a better story. That’s mine, now what’s your story?

Bobble Collecting Story “Larry Walker”

So a good buddy on mine who ives in Jacksonville Fl, knows I’m a  huge bobblehead guy. He actually lives a few blocks away from the Jacksonville Suns stadium. A few years back he wanted to take his 3 kids and wife to a game. He looked at the schedule and noticed there was a Larry Walker bobblehead giveaway. He chose that game because he knew his kids would love the bobble.

So, he took pictures with his family while he was at the game and texted me a few. I wrote back, “I’m glad your having a good time bro”. A few days passed and I go out to my front door and long behold, there’s a package with the return address being “Jacksonville, FL”. I soon opened the box and there was the Larry Walker bobblehead.

That’s my story, what’s yours?

Bobble Collecting Story “Hunter Pence”

Within the bobblehead community, it’s always good to have friends who care no matter where they live. Last summer I sold a Hunter Pence “Scooter” Bobble of the Month bobble to a bro named Jose out in San Francisco. It was an expensive bobblehead and I made sure to throw a few goodies within the box. Jose payed right away and I printed out a shipping label from Ebay and sent it off.

Jose was so excited to receive the bobble as he loved it and couldn’t wait to display it in his SF Giants collection. The following week, I received a box in the mail and it was a Hunter Pence stadium giveaway. The return address was from Jose who bought my Pence a week earlier. I messaged him through Ebay and he wrote back saying that he was so happy with the one I sent that he felt the need to send me his SGA. Very cool story as I’ve never sold a bobble to someone and received one back for free. Now, Jose and I talk regularly and I consider him a friend as he shares the same passion as all of us. Great guy and even better story. Now what’s your story?

Bobble Collecting Story “Carmelo Anthony”

Now this is a feel-good collecting bobblehead story. My neighbor who is a diehard Knicks fan typically goes to 2-3 games per year at the Garden. He usually goes with a couple of his co-workers so I don’t really get a chance to go with him. Until a few years ago he was going to a game and he came to my house the day before and asked me if I wanted to go because one of his friends had a wake to go to that night. Unfortunately, the day he came I had a fever and pains in every part of my body. Fucking 102 temperature and it stayed with me for several days. I told him I’ll see how I feel tomorrow and that I would let him know. The next day rolls around and my fever got worse. Shit luck I had that day as I felt like dog shit.

So I couldn’t go and I was pissed as hell. So what do I do? 7:00pm rolls around and I turn on the game and there’s the announcers holding up a Melo Bobble giveaway! I couldn’t catch a break at all. I was so angry I turned off the game and passed the fuck out. The following day I woke up late and suddenly heard the doorbell ring. I muscled to the door and there’s my neighbor holding the Carmelo bobble and hands it to me. What a great guy right? It’s the little things people do to make another person happy. That’s my story, so what’s yours?

Bobble Collecting Story “Vince Young”

This is a unique experience I had getting this Vince Young bobble from his Texas days. God damn he was good when he played for the Longhorns. Anyway, this must have been at least 10 years ago when I scored this beauty. I joined a open run basketball league within my town. I was in dire need of a new pair of kicks. Real bad and I didn’t want my fellow b ballers to knock my shoe game. So I went to the mall and walked into Footlocker looking to score a fresh pair of Nike’s. I found a dope pair and I strolled over to the apparel section to peep some shorts. Right in front of me on the shelf next to the head bands I saw a few Vince Young University of Texas championship bobbles. At first I was wondering what bobbles were doing in a Footlocker. I’m not from Texas, I’m from Connecticut! Anyway, the Sniper I am, I picked up 4 of them without hesitation. I knew college football bobbles are a rarity as they don’t produce that many. Also, Vince Young was a pimp at Texas so what better way to add to the collection! That’s my story, so what’s yours?
