Bobble of the Day

Player: Larry Johnson

Team: New York Knicks

Year: 2015

Manufacturer: Unknown

Anyone who remembers big ole Larry Johnson knows he was the fucking man and given the fact that his nickname was “Grandmama” because of the Converse commercials he used to do is boss. This bobble was given out to fans during the 2015 season at the Garden and it commemorates a huge play in Knicks history. LJ hit a 3-Pointer in Game 3 of the 1999 Eastern Conference Finals with under 12 seconds remaining and was fouled in the process leading to a 4 point play which gave the Knicks a one point victory. That play propelled the team to an unexpected trip to the NBA Finals as a number #8 seed.

The bobble itself is a shade under 6 inches and shows Johnson holding his left fist up to his right bicep as he did immediately after making the famous shot. The black elbow pad a a dope feature along with the scruffy facial hair that resembles LJ. The Knick colors are bright and really pop.

Sniper Rating: I love the fact that LJ’s name has raised letters and has a backdrop color of gold which really stands out. I’m not a huge fan of the “major energy” sponsor emblem on the front as it distracts the collector from the actual bobble but I guess they paid big money to put their company’s name on there. Nothing’s perfect right?

A huge play in Knicks team history and this is a sure fire homerun collector’s piece to add to your collection. Grandmama and his historical 4 point play scores a 9.5 rating.
