Motivational Friday

If you have your self worth wrapped-up in other people’s opinions, it’s a very difficult game to play.

Life is tough if you are navigating with other people’s GPS. Do you as you are plenty awesome and if you have good intent, you’ve won! You have to learn to block out other people’s position on you. I’ve said it a million times, people thought I was immature and weird for starting my bobblehead business. So what did I do? I looked the other way and gave 2 shits about what anybody had to say or any comment I heard. This comments came from friends and even family! Now a few years later, after building up a strong community and selling a lot of items, I can now laugh at the other’s who doubted me. Play the game that YOU want to play and let the other’s whisper. Period.

Bobble of the Day “Mike Piazza”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Mike Piazza

Team: New York Mets

Year: 2016

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Big Mike getting inducted into the Hall of Fame this past year is the equivalent of the birth if your first child. EVERYONE in the world was happy to see this legend get in. Even if you aren’t a Mets fan, you were ecstatic for him. I happened to be up there a few weeks after the induction ceremony and Cooperstown was still buzzing about him and Griffey getting in. I also happened to sneak around to a few memorabilia shops and scored a bunch of these exclusive Piazza Hall of Fame bobbles.

So this one is the cream of the crop of Piazza bobbleheads. The first thing that pops on this one has to be the Cooperstown Hall of Fame logo that sits smack dead on the top of the base. After all, it’s got America’s colors of red, white and blue with a baseball! The outline of the base has a thin red trim on the way bottom and right above is a dark blue. I’m glad Piazza’s name is in the color white as it’s very visible but the fact that it’s a sticker is a major downfall. FOCO, what would it cost you folks to add some raised letters? An extra dollar to each bobblehead made? C’mon! Especially, for this type of caliber player nevertheless a player who getting inducted into the Hall of Fame for crying out loud! Anyway, the pose Mike is in, portray’s his signature homerun swing which is bad ass. The pants looks sharp with the blue stripe down the side and matching blue belt.

I also like the fact FOCO added some detail to make up for the sticker mishap by putting wrist bands on Mike and the number #31 which collector’s can clearly see. The helmet, face and go-tee are on point as it does look like Piazza.

Sniper Rating: Overall, this is considered a “special” bobble and I don’t use the term to often. It’s history. It’s sentimental if you lived and died by Piazza in a Mets uniform. Limited to only 504 made, this HOF bobble without question scores a strong 9.0. It would’ve scored a perfect 10 if it wasn’t for the shitty stickers FOCO cut corners on. Shoot me a line if you need one of these because the well is running dry as I only have a few left.

Motivational Thursday

You must be ruthless on you way to the top.

Many people are okay with a normal job, a manager position, a coordinator etc. Many love 5-day work weeks, paid vacation time, paid sick days and weekends to do whatever their little heart desires. But the true killers in business and in life can’t think of a life like that. Although, there is nothing wrong with it. If you want to be at the top of your industry, you must be absolutely ruthless on your way up. You have to lose friends, time-wasting activities, “hobbies” and anything else that will take away from your end result. Make the right connections, do the extra learning, and work outside of the office. Be a killer in your industry, and watch your back during the climb because there are ALWAYS people wanting what you have.

Bobble of the Day “Blake Griffin”

Bobble of the Day

Player: Blake Griffin

Year: 2012

Manufacturer: Forever Collectibles

Everyone knows how good Blake is and even if your not a Clippers fan, you know who the heck the guy is. He won the Rookie of the Year back in 2012 and also made the All-Star game as a rookie. The last rookie to start and All-Star game was Yao Ming back in 2003. Not only did Griffin win the ROY and start the All-Star game, but he won the slam dunk contest in front of his hometown fans at the Staples Center. He jumped over the car and dunked which catapulted him to win the crown as dunk champ.

Now this bobble is very cool in many ways. The geometrical base is a fresh look that has the Clippers logo on top along with his number #32. Along the bottom sides of the base the colors red and blue mix well together. His name is raised letters which is a plus but it’s hard to read. FOCO definitely should have made it white for it to pop a little more. The home uni is laced with blue and red Clipper colors and the Rookie of the Year trophy is as dope as it gets. Blake’s facial features are on point with no complaints there. Lastly, the back 2012 “Rookie of the Year” emblem displays a nice finishing touch to a well thought out bobble.

Sniper Rating: Blake seems always to have excellent surrounding players around him but the Clips can never get deep into the playoffs. That Wester Conference is a bitch with Houston, San Antonio and Dallas for many years interrupted the Clippers plans to win a title. Who the hell knows if Blake ever wins a ring with the Clips. All I know is not to many bobbles of Mr. Griffin were ever made so this one stands above the rest. Blake and his ROY bobble score a 8.0 rating.
