The General’s Career Is Highlighted With A New Bobblehead

This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled a limited-edition Bob Knight Career Accomplishments Bobblehead honoring the legendary college basketball coach. The special edition bobblehead is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in conjunction with Knight Legacy. Founded by Coach Knight’s son, Pat Knight, Knight Legacy’s mission is to honor, promote, and preserve the Coach Knight Legacy and the footprint that Hall of Fame Coach Bob Knight made in the history of basketball. Coach Knight passed away at his home in Bloomington surrounded by his family on November 1, 2023, at the age of 83.

Standing on a rectangular basketball court base with BOB KNIGHT and THE GENERAL on each side of an outline of the state of Indiana across the front, the Knight bobblehead is wearing a red sweater and navy pants and pointing to give instructions to his team. The framed backing of the base, which features one of his memorable quotes, “Mental is to physical as four is to one,” also includes a sketch of Knight, replica banners of the three national championships won under Coach Knight, a numerical rundown of Knight’s career accomplishments, and a replica of Knight’s autograph.

The bobbleheads, which will be individually numbered, are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store . The bobbleheads are available for $40 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. They are expected to ship in July.

In his coaching career, Knight finished with an overall record of 902-371. The 902 NCAA Division I victories was a record at the time of his retirement, and currently ranks fifth all-time. He is best known for winning three national championships as the head coach of Indiana in 1976, 1981 and 1987. In addition to coaching the Hoosiers from 1971 to 2000, he was also the head coach at Army from 1965 to 1971 and Texas Tech from 2001 to 2008. Other career highlights include 28 NCAA Tournament appearances, five trips to the Final Four, 11 Big Ten regular-season championships, and three Big Ten Coach of the Year awards.

Known as one of college basketball’s most successful and innovative coaches, having popularized the motion offense, Knight also won a National Invitation Tournament championship and 11 Big Ten Conference championships along with his three national titles. Knight received National Coach of the Year honors four times. In 1984, he coached the USA men’s Olympic team to a gold medal, becoming one of only three basketball coaches to win an NCAA title, NIT title and an Olympic gold medal. Knight was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991 and was a member of the founding class of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. He was also inducted into the Army Sports Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Indiana Hoosiers Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.

When asked about the bobblehead, Pat Knight said, “Knight Legacy is excited to be partnering with the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame again to launch this one of a kind bobblehead highlighting my father’s career achievements and preserving his legacy. Being the last team to go undefeated in 1976 is something talked about at this time every year and something Coach was very proud of for this team reaching their full potential and accomplishing their goal.”

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Knight Legacy to add this very special bobblehead of Coach Knight to the collection,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “One of the most successful coaches in history, ‘The General’ has a list of career accomplishments worthy of a special bobblehead, and this bobblehead will be a must-have for fans!”

The Presidential Candidates Bobblehead Series Have Arrived

This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the 2024 Presidential Candidate Bobblehead Series featuring bobbleheads of incumbent President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Chris Christie. On Monday, January 15th, the race for the White House officially begins with the Iowa caucus and the presidential election will take place on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024. The bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.

Standing on a red, white, and blue star-shaped base, each 2024 Presidential Candidate bobblehead is smiling and waving while standing behind a replica yard sign bearing their name. Each candidate’s name is also shown on the front of the base. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,024 for the election year, and they are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in May, are $30 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. A complete set of six is available for $175.

The 2024 United States presidential election could be a case of déjà vu for voters. President Biden and former President Trump are both currently leading the polling for their respective party, which would set up a rematch of 2020. President Biden announced his intent to run for re-election in April, while the embattled former President Trump was among the first to declare his candidacy for the GOP nomination and is the current front-runner despite multiple legal woes.

Other primary election challengers who have also declared their candidacies for the nomination on the Republican ticket are Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Chris Christie among others. The presidential election will occur at the same time as elections to the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House. Several states will also hold gubernatorial and state legislative elections. Crime, education, immigration, gun control, healthcare, abortion access, LGBT rights, the state of the economy, and election integrity are expected to be leading campaign issues. The winner of the election is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 20th, 2025.

This election year will be especially relevant for the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum with the 2024 Republican and Democratic National Conventions being held in Milwaukee and Chicago, respectively. The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee will be held July 15-18 while the Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago August 19-22. The Hall of Fame and Museum will be hosting a special Presidential Bobblehead Exhibit this summer showcasing the history of political and presidential bobbleheads.

In 2020, the Hall of Fame and Museum released a Presidential Candidate Bobblehead Series featuring Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Kanye West, and Joe Jorgensen. In 2016, the Bobblehead Series featured Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio. In 2022, the Hall of Fame and Museum released the first complete series of President Bobbleheads which feature every president on a base with a replica White House.

“We’re excited to unveil the 2024 Presidential Candidate Bobblehead Series,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “The historic 2024 presidential election is expected generate a lot of conversation leading up to the big day. What a better way to support your favorite candidate or follow along with the process than with a bobblehead!”

The special edition bobbleheads are part of the 125th Anniversary Collection and are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Michigan State University.

Standing on the Michigan State Basketball 125th Anniversary logo, the Sparty bobblehead is holding a basketball and giving the No. 1 signal. Standing on a circular basketball court base bearing their names and the MSU 125th Anniversary logo, the Jud Heathcote and Tom Izzo bobbleheads are each holding a basketball with the Michigan State logo. A set of all five is available for $150.

Playing their first season in 1898, the Michigan State Spartans have made 36 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1957, including 25 consecutive appearances. That is the third-longest streak ever and the longest active streak in college basketball. The Spartans have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen 21 times and the Elite Eight 14 times. Their 10 Final Four appearances are the sixth-most all time. In Big Ten Conference play, Michigan State has won 16 regular-season championships and six tournament championships.

Amazingly, the Spartans have had only two head coaches since 1976. Heathcote (1976-95) coached the Spartans for 19 seasons. Led by All-American guard Magic Johnson, Heathcote guided MSU to its first national title in 1979 with a 75-64 victory over Indiana State. The game was the most watched college basketball game in history with 35 million television viewers. Izzo took over for Heathcote in 1995 after 11 years as his assistant coach and led the Spartans to their second national title in 2000 with an 89-76 victory over Florida. The Spartans also finished as the national runner-up in 2009. Izzo entered his 29th season in 2023-24 with an overall record of 687-280. On March 6th, 2022, Izzo passed Indiana’s Bob Knight for the most wins by a men’s basketball coach at a Big Ten School.

“We are excited to release these bobbleheads in celebration of 125 years of Michigan State men’s basketball,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “With Hall of Fame coaches Jud Heathcote and Tom Izzo leading the way, the Spartans have been one of the most successful programs in the history of men’s college basketball. These bobbleheads will be must-haves for Michigan State fans everywhere!”

Chargers Super Fan Merrianne Do Cheers Her Way To Bobblehead Spotlight

This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled five special edition bobbleheads featuring Los Angeles Chargers Super Fan Merrianne Do, who went viral after her appearance on Monday Night Football during a game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys on October 16th at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The special edition bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in conjunction with Merrianne.

Wearing a blue jersey and positioned on a blue circular base, there are five Merrianne bobbleheads available in various states of her die-hard fandom – nervous, sad, happy, angry, and angry with red eyes. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,023 and they are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in March, are $30 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. A set of all five is available for $125.

“I’m super thrilled and can’t believe my game-day reactions are turning into bobbleheads!” Merrianne said when asked about being turned into a bobblehead. “I think many sports fans can relate to one of more of these roller coaster emotions, and the fact that they are being encapsulated into bobbleheads is so fun!”

During the latter moments of the Chargers’ 20-17 loss to the Cowboys on Monday Night Football, the ESPN cameras at SoFi Stadium kept panning to Merrianne as she rode a roller coaster of emotions with the game hanging in the balance. In the days that followed, Merrianne was accused of being an actor, planted by the NFL. She spoke with multiple media outlets and appeared as a guest on the Pat McAfee Show along with NFL Total Access to tell her story and talk about her rise to stardom. The Minnesota native, who grew up rooting for the Vikings, moved to California 20 years and is a Chargers’ season-ticket holder. Married with four children, Merrianne works as a pharmacist at Walgreens.

“I wish I was getting paid,” Merrianne said on the Pat McAfee Show. “I wish I could make myself an AI and as beautiful as I want, but at the end of the day, this is me, guys. This is me, a crazy mom of four, crazy Chargers fan, crazy freaking football fan. But now it’s crazy. It’s overwhelming that the whole world thinks this is so different because this is what my kids have had to deal with all their lives. … I’m not afraid to hold my fandom out there because at the end of the day, there are so many people in the stands. We all feel the same way. … They always get me on the Jumbotron because I am freaking nuts. But I’ve never been on TV, and then somebody comes up to me from the field. And they’re like, ‘Do you know you’re on TV?’ So, I had no idea until the end, and then I’m like, ‘OK, why do I have these text messages?’ … So, I get home, my kids are like, ‘Mommy, you’re on TV.’”

“We are excited to unveiled these specials bobbleheads of Super Fan Merrianne going through a range of emotions while rooting on her team,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “Merrianne’s passion came through loud and clear, and we think fans will enjoy these unique, new bobbleheads!”
